Subject: Victory in Chesterfield Circuit Court!

Many of you have asked about the removal of the flag pole at our I-95 Chester flag site. After years of ongoing legal issues with Chesterfield County and continued good faith efforts on our part to comply with their ever changing demands, County Officials pulled a fast one a few months ago when they convicted our landowner of misdemeanor non-compliance and threatened her with jail time if the flag and pole were not removed in 5 days.

All of this occurred after we were assured by county officials that the case would be continued and the flag would be allowed to continue to fly while we went through the process of applying for a variance to meet their latest requirements.

We appealed the conviction, and are pleased to report that on Friday, the conviction was overturned, and the case against Mrs Hendricks was DISMISSED, and all charges dropped!

We were unable to share details until now, as our priority was to make sure the criminal charges were cleared. Look for more details to follow, but in true Flagger fashion, know that we have already filed the necessary application for a variance to re install the flag, are working with the county to get the process completed… and when we are done it will return bigger and better than before.

Obviously, county officials believed that the extensive paperwork and exorbitant fees involved would scare us away.

They underestimated our resolve.

We have already raised $500 of the estimated $1500 legal and court costs accrued for the case and anyone wishing to contribute to the remaining balance may use the following info and note “Cathy Hendricks Legal Defense”.

Thank you, Cathy, for your courage and conviction. Our landowners often find themselves on the front lines and directly in the crossfire, and we appreciate their dedication and devotion to our cause!

Sincerely,
Susan Lee
