MONTANA FINALLY REPLACING CONFEDERATE FOUNTAIN

There is now a new concrete base at the former site of the Confederate Memorial Fountain in Helena’s Hill Park.

The site has sat empty for more than two years, after we reported the city leaders removing the original fountain in August 2017.

In the next few weeks, though, the public will begin to see progress, as pieces of a new replacement fountain are put into place.

The Equity Fountain Project, a group of “artists,” architects and other community members has been working since 2018 to put together a new fountain that would showcase replace the former Confederate memorial with one that would represent “equality, tolerance and justice.” They eventually selected a design by California “artists” James Dinh and Michael Stutz, called the “Sphere of Interconnectedness.” The Helena City Commission voted in January to accept the Equity Fountain as a gift and place it in Hill Park.

CHARLOTTESVILLE STATUES DAMAGED

The statues of two Confederate generals in separate downtown parks appeared on Monday to have been vandalized. For the second time in a month, the statue of “Stonewall” Jackson in downtown Charlottesville appeared on Monday morning to have been damaged.

Hours later, police responded to the Robert E. Lee Statue in Market Street Park for a report of damage that appeared to have been caused by a chisel. This is the first report of damage to the Lee statue.

The noses and hands of the figures of Faith and Valor, which stand around the base of the Jackson monument, appeared to be further chipped away. The damage, which echoes similar blows to the figures reported last month , was first noticed Monday morning. Additionally, a piece of paper reading “1619” was taped to a sign outside the statue, presumably in reference to the first year enslaved Africans were transported to what is now the United States.

According to the Charlottesville Police Department, officers responded to Court Square Park for a report of vandalism to the Jackson Statue at 8:06 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered physical damage and paper signs covering the posted “No Trespassing” signs.

The incidents at both statues are currently under investigation by Charlottesville police.

SCV LOSES APPEAL

The Tennessee Supreme Court will not consider an appeal related to Memphis’ removal of statues of Confederate leaders Nathan Bedford Forrest and Jefferson Davis from two parks.

City officials circumvented a State law limiting the removal of historical memorials from public property by “selling” the parks to a “private” nonprofit. Davidson County Chancellor Ellen Hobbs Lyle ruled last year that the removals did not violate state law because they were on “private” property when removed.

The state Supreme Court this week ruled it would not hear an appeal by the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

A statement from Memphis Chief Legal Officer Bruce McMullen says the denial ends the litigation and will allow the nonprofit Memphis Greenspace to “relocate the statues to an appropriate venue outside of Shelby County.”

SCV CLEANS NORTH CAROLINA MONUMENT

Members of the Battle of Sharpsburg Camp #1582, Sons of Confederate Veterans met outside of Boonsboro, on Sunday, Oct. 13, for the Camp’s annual cleanup of the North Carolina Monument at the South Mountain Battlefield.

OLE’ MISS TAKES NEXT STEP

The next step in the relocation of the Confederate statue at the University of Mississippi has been set.

A letter from Provost Noel Wilkin says a meeting has been set for December 6, with the Mississippi Department of Archives and History.

The monument is currently on the Lyceum Circle but, if approved, removal would still take up to 90 days.

A CONVENIENT MEMORY LAPSE

The US ambassador who denied ‘quid pro quo’ in text messages isn’t certain anymore, the Washington Post reports.

According to the Washington Post, Gordon Sondland, who sought to reassure another Trump envoy that the president’s withholding of military aid to Ukraine was not intended as a bargaining chip in exchange for an investigation into Joe Biden, is planning to testify that he’s not sure Trump was being truthful. Sondland was set to appear before the House impeachment inquiry on Thursday.

A source told CBS News that the move had “nothing to do with Ukraine or the impeachment investigations.”

WILL RUDY BE INDICTED?

ABC News has reported that Rudy Giuliani is the subject of a criminal investigation by federal authorities. The Feds are now examining the business relationship between President Trump’s personal attorney and his recently indicted associates, Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman. Perhaps the indictment of Parnas and Fruman was only intended as a means to get to Rudy all along?

Parnas and Fruman were arrested last week Wednesday on “campaign finance violation” charges.

“WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY” AND HE/SHE ARE PEOPLE WE WERE STUPID ENOUGH TO VOTE FOR
by Al Benson, Jr.

Al Benson, Jr., is the Editor of the Copperhead Chronicle. In addition to writing for Southern Patriot and other publications, he is a member of the Confederate Society of America and the League of the South.

The statement by Pogo that I partially quoted above in the title has a modicum of truth to it, but the truth goes over and beyond that. We may often vote ignorantly. Lots of people do. But, often some of those they vote for are the true enemies of this Republic (not Democracy).

Can anyone with half a brain honestly deny that all the “lite candidates” that are running for the Democratic nomination for president are all true enemies of what this Republic is supposed to stand for? They all prattle about their great concern for “the people” which “people” they never tell us, but the drivel they all espouse, if ever enacted, will be the demise of this republic. And I think, deep down, they all know that. What’s more, I don’t think they give a tinker’s damn. They are all stooges for the Deep State with no real ideology except that which drives the Deep State, and they hope by willingly prostituting themselves to the Deep State they will be well rewarded with political plums. They are not smart enough to realize that when the Deep State is finished with them it will gladly toss them on the ash heap of history and hunt up more suckers to do its bidding.

We have people, presently in Congress, who, to their extreme socialist proclivities, are truly enemies of what the Republic stands for. They know that and they like it! Check out the New American Magazine for October 7th, http://www.thenewamerican.com for an articled by Trevor Loudon about four radical leftist congresspersons who seem to have, as their agenda, the destruction of this Republic. If these four were any further to the left they would have fallen over the edge by now. We have enough radical socialists in Congress to scare the daylights out of any concerned American patriot. And please don’t try to tell me that they are well-meaning people who just see things differently. That’s a crock and we both know it. And who put them there? Voters with mush for brains, that’s who!

Anyone who can’t see the damage socialism has done in this country, going all the way back to Abraham Lincoln and Lincoln’s Marxists, maybe should seriously consider whether he has enough knowledge to cast an intelligent vote or not.

Of course what passes for public education in this country has basically been under the control of socialists and humanists since well before the 20th century. And as long as parents blindly continue to toss their kids into this system with no thought behind their decisions then this system will continue to teach our kids to be good little socialists. I wonder, does it ever occur to many parents that what they are doing with the “education” of their children will end up being a total sellout to world socialism and their kids will end up ditching everything their parents hold dear?

Some of the people we have voted into office are enough to make any truly concerned person visibly ill. I just saw an article on http://www.infowars.com today about “Creepy” Joe Biden. It stated: “Ukraine’s parliamentarian Andriy Derkach, who is heading a criminal case on interference in the 2016 U.S. elections, revealed on Wednesday that formed Vice President Joe Biden was funneled $900,000 for ‘lobbying activities,’ by Burisma Group, where his son Hunter Biden has sat on the board of directors since 2014.” There’s lots of flack out there now about Biden and his son and how Biden threatened to withhold financial aid from Ukraine unless a politician investigating the group his son was involved with for corruption was dismissed. He was-and Ukraine got the (taxpayers’) money.

This is the kind of crap they are trying to impeach Trump for, but if Biden’s son is involved everybody is just supposed to look the other way. Our current two-tiered system of justice in living color!

And then we have Hitlery Clinton, everyone’s favorite political “whatever,” positioning herself for yet a third presidential run. Many will, no doubt, be dumb enough to think she has the best interests of the country at heart. Those who do are “useful idiots.” Hillary has her own best interests at heart and long ago she took the trouble to label all who disagree with her as deplorables. That should tell all of us where we stand in her estimation-and where the country stands in her estimation.

Trump beat her, fair and square, though she will never admit that. She felt the imperial presidency was only her due and she means to grasp it, by any method necessary. If she doesn’t manage to steal the 2020 election then she may well end up running against Trump’s son in 2024!

Folks, let’s face it-we have a batch of politicians running in this next election that would make scumbags look like the protectors of society. Trump may have his problems, but he is head and shoulders above most of what else is out there. And if the American public keeps electing more socialists to Congress, we may yet live to see our grandchildren curse us for our stupidity!

UPDATE: I was just informed that Facebook has deemed this article above as “violating their community standards.” Of course if I were a Demoncrat complaining about Trump it would be just fine.

SID SECULAR ASKS:

So what’s wrong with a plant-based whopper? SS

My reply:

Personally, I liked the taste of the Impossible Whopper. But have you seen its ingredient list. All those chemicals. I’ll take my chances with beef.

To which Sid replied:

Ed,

When the large agricultural multinational corporations get involved with health oriented food products they invariably are adulterated with unhealthy additives, not realizing these additives are not necessary for preservative or taste purposes. There are quite a few veggie burgers that have been around for many years that are quite tasty and wholesome. Dr. Praeger’s and Amy’s are 2 excellent brands that offer quite a variety of wholesome plant burgers.

A BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVE OF SLAVERY
Part 2 of 10 – by Mike Scruggs

Mike Scruggs is the author of The Un-Civil War: Shattering the Historical Myths; Lessons from the Vietnam War: Truths the Media Never Told You, and over 600 articles on military history, national security, immigration, current political affairs, Islam, and the Middle East.

Last week’s article was dominated by direct quotes from Scripture, especially the letters of the Apostle Paul. An overall understanding of those Scriptures should be clear to those who are able to shake the substantial non-Biblical cultural bias prevalent for many decades. The Bible does not promote slavery but providentially allows it and regulates it to prevent human abuse. Slave-owning was not a sin, but slave mistreatment and abuse were.

We need to set some definitions for our further understanding of the issues. A good definition of slavery was given by the Reverend John Henry Hopkins, Episcopal Bishop of Vermont in 1863:

“Slavery may be defined as servitude for life, descending to the offspring.”

The conditions and rules of slavery varied considerably from civilization to civilization, but we will concentrate on Jewish, Roman, and American slavery, which for the most part were three of the most benign forms of slavery.

It is also important to know what words are used to describe slavery in English translations of the Bible. The word “slave” is far less common than “bondservant,” but they mean essentially the same thing. The word “servant” also usually means the same. The Bible usually distinguishes between “servants,” meaning bondservants or slaves, and “hired servants,” designated as such.

Around 2000 BC, Abraham had bondservants (slaves), which he considered a part of his larger household.

Genesis 14:14

“When Abram heard that his kinsman had been taken captive, he led forth his trained men, born in his house, 318 of them, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.”

Genesis 17:12

“He who is eight days old among you shall be circumcised. Every male throughout your generations, whether born in your house or bought with your money from any foreigner who is not of your offspring,”

Genesis 16:6-9

“But Abram said to Sarai, “Behold, your servant is in your power; do to her as you please. Then Sarai dealt harshly with her, and she fled from her. The angel of the Lord found her by a spring of water in the wilderness, the spring on the way to Shur. And he said, “Hagar, servant of Sarai, where have you come from and where are you going?” She said, “I am fleeing from my mistress Sarai.” The angel of the Lord said to her, “Return to your mistress and submit to her.”

Genesis 21: 9-14,

“But Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, laughing. So she said to Abraham, “Cast out this slave woman with her son, for the son of this slave woman shall not be heir with my son Isaac.” And the thing was very displeasing to Abraham on account of his son, But God said to Abraham, “Be not displeased because of the boy and because of your slave woman. Whatever Sarah says to you, do as she tells you, for through Isaac shall your offspring be named. And I will make a nation of the son of the slave woman also, because he is your offspring. So Abraham rose early in the morning and took bread and a skin of water and gave it to Hagar, putting it on her shoulder, along with the child, and sent her away. And she departed and wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba.”

Genesis 20-21:

“And God was with the boy, and he grew up. He lived in the wilderness and became an expert with the bow. He lived in the wilderness of Paran, and his mother took a wife for him from the land of Egypt.”

Egyptian slavery in the time between Joseph and Moses had obviously grown harsh.

Exodus 1:8-14. Egyptians enslave Israelites.

“Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. And he said to his people, ‘Behold, the people of Israel are too many and too mighty for us. Come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and, if war breaks out, they join our enemies and fight against us and escape from the land.’ Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with heavy burdens. They built for Pharaoh store cities, Pithom and Raamses. But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and the more they spread abroad. And the Egyptians were in dread of the people of Israel. So they ruthlessly made the people of Israel work as slaves and made their lives bitter with hard service, in mortar and brick, and in all kinds of work in the field. In all their work they ruthlessly made them work as slaves.”

Exodus 2:23-24. Israelites groan because of their slavery and God hears.

“During those many days the king of Egypt died, and the people of Israel groaned because of their slavery and cried out for help. Their cry for rescue from slavery came up to God. And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. God saw the people of Israel-and God knew.”

Exodus 3:7-9,17.

“Then the Lord said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters. I know their sufferings, and I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. And now, behold, the cry of the people of Israel has come to me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them.”

Verse 17:

“and I [The Lord] promise that I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, a land flowing with milk and honey.”

In understanding slavery issues, it is helpful to think through what degrees of freedom or limitations of freedom are typical of different sorts of employment circumstances and contracts. For example, as an Air Force officer, I had less freedom than farmers or salesmen, but I had much more certainty of income and support for a family. Freedom and opportunity matter, but various types of certainty and security also matter, especially when survival is challenging. We also need to think through what levels of civilization and technology make freedom and security more possible.

In contrast to the harsh oppression they had experienced under Egyptian slavery, Jewish heads of household were held accountable for the welfare of their bondservants but held an implied moral right to retain their presence and services and value to the household.

Exodus 20:10, 17, The Fourth and Tenth Commandments

“But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant,, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates.” “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.”

Truth is the first rule of justice, love, and a better future.

GILLIGAN’S ISLAND – ANSWER TO POLICE BRUTALITY
by John Baeza

John Baeza is a retired NYPD Detective who was assigned to the Manhattan Special Victims Squad where he investigated over 1,000 case of rape, sexual homicide, felony sexual assault, and child abuse. By doing so, he became an expert in the sub-specialty of identifying false reports.

I retired from the NYPD and moved to Florida like many NYC policemen and firemen do – there is no state income tax here and it doesn’t snow. I decided I needed a job so I worked for a local Sheriff’s office for three years.

Policemen always have their hands full when they deal with emotionally disturbed persons (EDP’s in NYPD parlance). It was no different in south Florida.

While working in Florida I had seen many incidents where an EDP was wrestled into handcuffs, pepper sprayed, or even shot with a taser. But I handled EDP’s much differently than the average cop. And, since I didn’t like t o wear all that crap on my belt, I never wore a taser. So that wasn’t an option for me. I was, an continue to be unorthodox in my ways but I always looked to get the job done with as little force as necessary.

This particular true story started when I was in my training period after starting out in the sheriff’s office. My training officer, who hailed from New York, and I were dispatched as backup to a call of an emotionally disturbed woman who refused to be handcuffed and taken to the local mental health facility. Apparently she threatened to kill herself and needed professional help. I waited patiently as my colleagues ordered her to stand up and be handcuffed. She was screaming at them and they were screaming at her. A Deputy took out his pepper spray and another took out his taser. My training officer then intervened and told the others to let me talk to the woman. He told me, “work your mojo on her.” He was a wise cop.

I got down on the ground next to the woman and quietly told her my first name. I told her I wasn’t there to hurt her but that I couldn’t speak for these other “hillbilly cops.” I told her I worked previously with the New York City Police Department. She became quiet and looked up at me with interest. I can’t blame her. Who wouldn’t be interested in a retired NYPD cop who called his co- workers “hillbillies.” I saw she was about my age. I asked her if she ever saw the television show “Gilligan’s Island.” She said she had. I asked her if I could ask her a question about the show. She nodded her head yes. I asked her why it was that the professor could make a record player out of a coconut but he couldn’t fix a fu#&ing hole in a boat! She burst out in laughter and in a short while she was handcuffed, seated in the back of the police car, and smiling. No yelling, no scuffling, no pepper spray, and no taser. No brutality!

I’ve used this tactic many times and thankfully it has never failed me. They should teach it in the police academy.

Alas, they will refuse to teach this tactic or anything like it because it offends the senses of today’s militarized police.

It still amazes me that back in the 80’s and early 90’s in the heart of Harlem cops I worked with used tactics like this all the time. My precinct encompassed less than one square mile (with about 70 homicides per year) and may have been the most violent precinct in the country-per capita. When a precinct is that small every cop knows about every other cop. You know if there is brutality. You know if there is corruption. You just can’t hide it in a precinct that small. I was fortunate to have worked there. Brutality and corruption were almost non-existent. Policemen were proud to wrestle a gun away from someone instead of shooting them. It was a point of honor. Twenty six men of honor were killed in the line of duty in that small precinct alone. Much more than any other precinct in the city and probably the entire country. That is why reader’s will see that my pride still stands for the cops I worked with in what was nicknamed “The Tomb of Gloom .”

But my pride in the profession of policing is now gone. As the saying goes, “oh how far down we done fell” since that time.

FROM THE EDITOR

Dr. Ed is a pastor, author, public speaker, radio personality, lobbyist, re-enactor, and the Director of Dixie Heritage.

Next week we will have a column sent by the Lt. Governor of Maryland. Be sure to check it out.

Also, we are talking with TBR Radio about the possibility of having TWO radio shows next year. One will be all “Southern” all the time. It will be the Dixie Heritage Show, basically the Dixie Heritage Hour reformatted as a half-hour program. Then we will launch a new show, the working title, which could change, is TBR Radio Presents: Politically Incorrect History. It would cover the broader range of history and interview authors, celebrities, historians, etc. when that interview does not have any connection to the South.

What are your thoughts on splitting the radio show? Click reply and let me know.

Also, if you would like to tell the story of your Confederate ancestor on the radio click reply.

I just returned from a trip that took me to State Capitols in Florida, Alabama, and Missouri. It may have been my best trip this year. Also, on this trip we went to Memphis where monuments to General Forrest remain under siege.

I had reported that I had one. ore trip planned this year to the nation’s Capitol. I have not yet cancelled it but I may do so in the next couple of weeks. The fact is that these trips are expensive and contributions are falling so far behind the cost of the trips.

Until Next Week,
Deo Vindice!
