A federal appeals court says a judge was right when he cleared the way to remove a Confederate monument at a north Louisiana courthouse.

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday again turned back claims from the United Daughters of the Confederacy’s Shreveport chapter. The three-judge panel upheld Judge Robert James’s opinion, calling it “exhaustive and well-reasoned.”

The chapter’s attorney did not immediately respond to phoned and emailed requests for comment.

The police chief at the University of North Carolina is retiring after an investigation found campus police were unprepared for the demonstrators who tore down Silent Sam.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill said in a statement Friday that Jeff McCracken will leave his position in July after 26 years with the force and 12 years as top law enforcement officer.

A report commissioned by state university system officials found that because of miscommunication between McCraken, his oficers, and top administrators, officers failed to install barriers around Silent Sam to keep protesters away. The report found no evidence of a conspiracy involving Chief McCracken to enable the monument’s toppling.

The Commercial Appeal reported Sunday that Rhodes College is changing the name of Palmer Hall to Southwestern Hall. The change comes after a three-year investigation into the history of Benjamin Palmer, the first moderator of the Presbyterian Church in the Confederate States of America. Pastor Palmer, has been declared a racist by the school.

Last week Friday a group of Kickapoo High students observed the national Day of Silence (an event organized by libs for LGBTQ and however many other letters they are using nowadays students) by driving through the parking lot waving flags. Both American and Confederate flags were waved.

The unusual activity, which may have been a counter protest since earlier in the week, spirit week posters created by the school’s Gay Straight Trans Alliance, or GSTA, were ripped off the wall. The destruction of the posters – described as bullying incidents by Kickapoo Principal Bill Powers – happened April 5 and again April 10 and ignited a social media storm that has not completely gone away.

In the first incident, caught on video, a student ripped the poster off the wall and dunked it into a crowd of nearly 600 students. Hundreds clapped.

Principal Powers chastised the entire school over the intercom and repeatedly sent emails to students and parents. This resulted in a “KHS Straight Pride” profile on Instagram: “We don’t support LGBT ideology being pushed on students. Not affiliated with KHS faculty or staff. Facts don’t care about your feelings.”

Asked if the students involved in the Friday flag incident were disciplined, a school spokesman said they were not. He said the students voluntarily removed the flags, parked their vehicles and none were tardy to class.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported this morning on Jefferson County Judge Gerald Robinson’s idea to remove the Confederate statue that stands at the entrance to the Jefferson County courthouse in Pine Bluff. If the Judge is successful it will be the State’s first removal of a monument.

And last week, Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson signed a bill replacing the state’s current statues of U.M. Rose and James Paul Clarke with music legend Johnny Cash and civil rights leader Daisy Gatson Bates.

The statues of Rose and Clarke have been in the Capitol for more than 100 years. Rose, a prominent lawyer who served as head of the American Bar Association, opposed secession during the WBTS but remained loyal to Arkansas when it became a Confederate state.

Clarke was the state’s 18th governor and later represented Arkansas in the US Senate. Clarke’s descendants called for the removal of his statue last year, citing the former politician’s belief in white supremacy.

A new group is reviving their effort to take down a Confederate statue in front of the old Williamson County courthouse in Georgetown.

People calling themselves the Wilco Patriots announced they will gather Saturday at noon by the statue to start collecting signatures on a petition to present to county leaders.

The statue of Gen. Edmund Kirby Smith was replaced in the Capitol with one of boxing promoter Don King (who bears a striking resemblance to civil rights activist Mary McLeod Bethune) and the Lake County Historical Society chose to accept and display the statue.

In response to opposition a recent engineering report determined the historic building’s floors would be able to handle the bronze statue and the marble pedestal’s 8,300-pound weight. So the opposition has fronted an alternate version of the report that says there is no guarantee that moving the statue into the courthouse will not damage the historic building’s tile floors, which were described as “irreplaceable.”

Also brewing, dozens of black democrats have registering to run for seats on the Lake County Historical Society Board (elected positions) in order to overtake the board and deny the statue its home. Most do not even live in the County as the rules do not require any attachment to the county in order to set upon the Board.

Meanwhile, in Lakeland, the City wants to replace the recently removed Confederate monument in Munn Park with a carousell.

A city plan to put contextual markers citing “slavery” as a cause of the “Civil War” next to four of Atlanta’s Confederate statues this spring has hit a snag.

A city council committee now says it will take at least until the end of the year to get them in place. The reasons for the delay: Deciding who will pay for the signs and the process of getting the proposal vetted and approved by other city departments before it’s voted on by the the full council.

The monuments in question are the Confederate Obelisk and Lion of Atlanta in Oakland Cemetery; the Peace Monument in Piedmont Park; and the monument at the intersection of Peachtree Battle and Peachtree Roads commemorating the Battle of Peachtree Creek and North-South reconciliation.

Gov. Phil Bryant signed a bill Tuesday authorizing the state to sell several new specialty license plates, starting July 1. One of them features a proposed state flag designed by Jackson artist Laurin Stennis.

Legislators have not changed the actual flag that’s the last in the U.S. with the Confederate emblem, although some have pushed for the “Stennis Flag.”

A Depression-era mural depicting white children playing outside in the winter was removed from Percy Julian Middle School in Oak Park, Illinois because school officials said it failed to represent the school’s “diversity.”

Cynthia Brito Millan, a coordinator for the middle school’s Social Justice Club, said the push to remove the mural began in February at a district school board meeting. Students expressed frustration about an atmosphere of exclusion for students of color – who make up 45 percent of the student body – and cited the mural as an example.

The mural – named “Child and Sports-Winter” was painted by Ethel Spears in 1937 with funding from the Works Progress Administration, a New Deal agency formed in 1935 that funded out-of-work artists through the Federal Art Project to create art in public spaces like schools from 1935 to 1943. The mural is one of eight in Oak Park, and includes a sister mural, “Child and Sports-Summer,” located at Gwendolyn Brooks Middle School on the west side of the suburb. Whites are also the only people depicted in that mural.

David Sokol, a retired professor of American art history at the University of Illinois at Chicago, called the removal of the mural a “modern-day book burning.”

“There is nothing offensive with the mural; it just shows all white kids playing,” said Sokol, an author and Oak Park resident. “Just because it doesn’t have any black kids, doesn’t make it offensive. It doesn’t display any stereotypes at all. That’s how Oak Park looked back then. You can’t erase history.”

Barbara Bernstein, a founder of the New Deal Art Registry, said the removal of the mural is a missed opportunity for students to learn about the history around them.

“I think it does a real disservice to remove a piece of historical work,” said Bernstein. “Not everything in your environment is going to be a perfect reflection of you.”

Sokol, instead, would’ve rather the school kept the mural on display and used it as a learning experience for the students or counterbalance it by making another mural showing the modern Oak Park. For example, the front of the school features a mosaic tribute to the school’s namesake, Percy Julian, a black scientist and inventor who lived in Oak Park.

Lots of folks who don’t have access to the alternative media, or even particularly want it, are questioning what is going on at our Southern border. They are at least mildly curious as to why these caravans from Central America all of a sudden seem to be wanting to get into the United States in droves. There has always been some problem with illegal immigration across our Southern border, but nothing like what is going on now. If this continues it will swamp US resources trying to deal with it. I hate to sound pessimistic folks, but that is the whole idea. That’s the name of the game.

There is a strategy being employed in this scenario and it is not just a spontaneous situation, an isolated occurrence, it has been planned this way. Some have laid the blame at the door of the United Nations, and though I don’t know that for sure, it does sound like something they would be guilty of.

This strategy being employed along our Southern border is called The Cloward-Piven Strategy. Never heard of it, you say. I have written about it before, awhile back. You must have missed those articles. According to https://oathkeepers.org for November 18, 2018: “First proposed in 1966 and named after Columbia University sociologists Richard Andrew Cloward and his wife Frances Fox Piven (both longtime members of the Democratic Socialists of America, where Piven today is an honorary chair), the ‘Cloward-Piven Strategy seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse.” Early promoters of this plan to take down this country cited Saul Alinsky as one of their inspirations.

Does it surprise you that people charting the demise of this country have had prestigious positions at Columbia University? Given the anti-American bent of most colleges and universities in our day and for decades before that, it shouldn’t.

I doubt that if this country falls it will be from outside invasion. Rather it will be because our public (and some private) “institutions of learning” have been programming their students to participate willingly in our downfall, thinking that they are somehow promoting the greater good by tearing the country down and replacing it with some sort of vile socialist institution. In other words, for them, evil has become good and slavery has become freedom. And how many people continue to fork over big bucks so their kids can become propagandized in the glories of socialism-Venezuela style! Too many! So when will they ever get it? When they have lost everything-including their children!

An article on https://www.americanthinker.com for October 29, 2018 dealt with much of this, and it even had a picture of Cloward and Piven standing behind Bill Clinton as he signed the Motor Voter Law into existence back in 1993.

This article, written by Brian Joondeph, also observed: “in addition to expanding the welfare rolls internally, another way to overwhelm the system is to import more welfare recipients with the goal of overwhelming the system. This occurs via immigration, both legal and illegal. Think of what the current migrant caravan means in terms of Cloward-Piven. Thousands of poor, unskilled migrants entering the U.S. They need healthcare, education, housing, food, clothing and other basic needs which all cost money. Who pays for this? The migrants arrive with the clothes on their backs, not with job offers from Fortune 500 companies and guaranteed self-sufficiency.” As for who pays for it all-why the lucky taxpayer gets to foot the bill for it all, and if he dares to complain why then he’s a “racist” or even worse, a “white nationalist” no matter what color he is.

I’ve noticed just recently that Trump has threatened to take many of the illegals entering the country and bus them to some of these sanctuary cities that liberals and socialists are so enamored of and drop them off in neighborhoods peopled by mostly white liberals and socialists. The white socialists and liberals don’t like that idea at all. It repulses them. It’s what they’ve been howling for and they love it “Just as long as it’s not in my backyard!” I won’t even label them hypocrites. They are cultural Marxists, which means they have a different standard for themselves than they do for us “great unwashed.” We are all supposed to accept and love the hordes of illegals coming in-just as long as they don’t have to get their hands dirty with them! I won’t tell you what I think of such liberals and socialists-it wouldn’t be printable.

But anyway, that’s what is going on at our Southern border-an agenda put forth by members of the Democratic Socialists of America to help take your country down. Maybe you should read some of what I have been reading about this on the internet and drop a letter to the editor of your local newspaper about it, or even one to your elected representatives in Sodom on the Potomac. At least it will let them know that you realize what game is afoot.

The degree that the Schumer and Pelosi-led Democrats will go to prevent Donald Trump from having the promised wall is truly disgusting and appalling.

They say they want border security, but they sidestep the details, citing lofty pie-in-the-sky technology, drones and electronic sniffing devices, most of which have been on the job for years but have only detection and no deterrent properties against a couple of thousand determined illegals who rush in and overwhelm our border security.

Pelosi and Schumer, who never met a pro-abortion bill they didn’t like, now plead compassion for children, while the two wax figures who rebutted President Trump the other night showed about as much compassion as a rattlesnake – their cold, stiff, almost inhuman demeanor and appearance more closely resembling a cold-blooded apparition than a warm-blooded human being.

Pelosi says that a wall sends the wrong message, while what it actually does is send a message that America is a nation of laws, a nation in control, a nation whose sovereignty will not be violated by any and all who can traverse its porous borders.

What sends a wrong message is people who are supposed to be concerned with the security of the citizens of the nation who pay their salary and voluminous benefits and whose laws they have sworn to protect and enforce are saying to the world, “It’s alright. Come on in to America and reap our benefits and entitlements, enjoy our social welfare, use our medical system, and do it all free of charge. There are plenty of working fools who continue to put people like us in office to waste their hard-earned money.”

People, wake up! Do you think the likes of Pelosi, Schumer et al give a horse apple about anything but power? The ultimate goal of this diabolical duo is to naturalize millions of new Democrat voters, creating an unbeatable majority that wants to turn our nation into a godless, socialist purgatory.

And with socialism comes totalitarianism. You can’t have one without the other because force is the only way the elite can stay on top.

Anybody with enough sense to walk through a door without bumping their head can see where this is heading, knows that a properly built wall will stem the flow of illegals and knows that the Democrats know it will work, and therein is the rub.

There are sections of walls that work now. San Diego, El Paso and other border areas have short stretches of wall that have been extremely effective, and the Democrats know it. And they also know that if Trump builds the wall, it will severely curtail their dreams of ultimate power and a stranglehold over everything in the United States. Plus, it will reveal, that as in so many other things, they don’t know what they are talking about.

In Schumer-Pelosi’s ideal America:

Guns would be confiscated. There would be no restrictions whatsoever on abortion. Taxes would be through the roof. Global warming – the new religion of the left – would become front and center, and American manufacturing would, again, begin a monolithic evacuation.

Self-proliferating bureaucracies would spring up and regulate every facet of personal life in this nation. Eventually, you would have to get a permit to dig a hole in your own back yard.

Think that’s impossible?

Ask someone in Holland where you have to get a permit to build a dog house.

Getting any kind of license would become a nightmare as self-governing bureaucracies would hire inept political cronies, and inefficiency would slow the process down to a snail’s pace.

Think that won’t happen?

Ask the people in Italy where the licensing offices only work four days a week, use any excuse for a holiday and make even obtaining a marriage license like taking a trip down Alice’s rabbit hole.

Do you want to live in such a country?

If you don’t, you’d better let your voice be heard because with the Democrat/media cartel it can happen very quickly, and you could wake up one morning to find out that your country has been pulled right out from under you.

Note, don’t look for the Republicans to save you. It’s like a mass castration has taken place on that side of the aisle, and there’s not enough testosterone – and its female equivalent – left to muster anything but a milquetoast acquiescence.

I, for one, will not stand silently by and watch a bunch of greedy, power-hungry politicians steal the rights and freedoms that so many good men have died to give us.

I may go down, but I will go down swinging, kicking, hollering and praying.

For two thousand years, “the Jews” have been falsely blamed for the murder of Jesus, as did a recent article in Dixie Heritage.

*Editor’s note: Lew is referring to last week’s column by Al Benson.

I would like, very respectfully, to document here that a careful reading of the Christian Bible, the “New Testament”, shows that it was not the Jews but the Romans who killed Jesus. Indeed, Jesus, his family, the “multitudes” of his followers and supporters, were Jews, and they, like him, were the victims of the Romans, not the perpetrators.

It was the brutal Roman occupiers who killed Jesus, with the cooperation of a few Jewish collaborators, led by the High Priest Caiaphas, who had been told by the Romans to “take care” of this Jewish reformer & troublemaker, or they would do so (by killing a massive number of Jews), and, as Caiaphas pointed out, “destroy our nation ”

Pilate was no defender of Jesus, as some suggest, and after sentencing him to death, he brutally whipped (“scourged”) Jesus.

Jesus Was a Faithful Jew

While Jews and Christians disagree about Jesus’ Divinity, his devotion to Judaism is indisputable. Even Paul, the foremost proponent and founder of Christianity, was by his own account Jewish, “circumcised on the eighth day, a member of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew born of Hebrews; as to the law, a Pharisee” (Philippians 3:5).

Jesus claimed to be faithful to the laws and teachings of Moses and the Hebrew prophets, and the early “Christians” considered themselves to be Jewish. Jesus and his disciples were devout Jews, keeping kosher, observing the Sabbath, fasts and festivals, saying Morning prayers, and preaching the laws of the Torah. Jesus’ disciples called him “rabbi” (“teacher”).

In Luke 2 (49-50), Jesus’ parents search Jerusalem for their lost child, and when they locate him, in the synagogue, he says, “Why were you searching for me? Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”

The words put in Jesus’ mouth (by writers who never met him) purportedly attacking “the Jews” are actually criticisms of the Jewish leadership. He considered the Pharisees (rabbis) of his day to be corrupt, self-righteous, arrogant, and hypocritical, teaching a form of Judaism based on literal law, formalism, ritual, and devoid of spiritualism and compassion.

Jesus preached almost exclusively to the Jews, who supported, dined and walked with him.

Jesus’ Popularity with the Jews

Jesus was very popular with his fellow Jews, the “masses” and crowds of people mentioned throughout the Gospels who revered him, followed him on his travels, gathered by the thousands to hear him speak, and protected him from the rulers who collaborated with the Romans. Luke 23:27 describes how Jesus was led away to be crucified, “and there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him…”

As an observant Jew, Jesus had travelled to Jerusalem for the Passover celebrations, where, upon entering the city crowded with fellow Jewish visitors, he received a hero’s welcome. Matthew 8:1-13 tells us, “When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him…”

It was in large part his popularity with the Jewish people that caused Jesus to be killed by the ruling Roman authorities (with the coerced cooperation of their clique of appointed Jewish agents and collaborators).

Indeed, Jesus was so popular with the Jewish people that the authorities were afraid to arrest him during Passover. As Mark 14:1-2 makes clear, “It was now two days before the Passover and the feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to arrest him by stealth, and kill him; for they said, ‘Not during the feast, lest there be a tumult of the people’.” Mark 12: 12 states, “And they tried to arrest him, but feared the multitude…”

So rather than the Jewish people wanting to kill Jesus, they actually protected him from the authorities who collaborated with the Romans.

As Jesus is being led away to be crucified, Luke 23:27 refers to the “great number of people” who were following him, and in the next verse, Jesus speaks to the Jewish women in the group, calling them “daughters of Zion.” And it was Jews who took Jesus off the cross, prepared him for “burial,” mourned him – and then got the blame for the crime.

The Jewish Mobs

But what about the howling, bloodthirsty mob, calling for Jesus’ death, that is described in the Gospels, supposedly representing the Jewish people ? How could this be, since all four of these books agree that just five days before the trial, huge, friendly crowds greeted Jesus as he entered Jerusalem.

By this time, Jesus had become renowned in Galilee as a healer, a preacher, and an exorcist who might even be the Messiah, who would throw off the yoke of Roman rule. The Gospels note that the people surrounding and supporting Jesus, all of whom were Jews, were so numerous and enthusiastic that the chief priests (all privileged agents of Rome) were afraid to arrest him.

Thus, Ironically, Jesus was killed because the masses of Jews loved, not hated, him.

Yes, a small group of Jewish priests and other collaborators in the ruling classes, led by the high priest Caiaphas, are purported to have urged the Romans on, and even tried Jesus (in the dead of the night on the eve of Passover, already, which would have been illegal under Jewish law !). But in their relations with the Romans, the Jews and their leaders had no real political power.

Moreover, the Jewish leadership realized that if they did not deal with this “troublemaker” and his adherents, the Romans would do so in a much more brutal fashion, as they had done years before, killing thousands in an earlier Passover riot. John (11:47-50) quotes the priests as understandably worrying that the fate of the Jewish people might be at stake.

“If we let him thus alone,” they say, “…the Romans shall come and take away both our place and our nation,” to which Caiaphas replies, “…it is expedient for us that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.” Such fears were not far-fetched, indeed they were realized a few years later, when the Romans responded to a Jewish rebellion by destroying the state.

The Romans’ Brutal Role

During Jesus’ time, the Romans and their Governor of Judea, Pontius Pilate, ruled the country with an iron fist, and were responsible for appointing Caiaphas to his post. All accounts make it clear that it was Romans who cruelly killed Jesus – whipping and torturing him, ripping and tearing his flesh, putting a crown of thorns on his head, spitting on him, nailing him to the cross, crucifying him, even running him through with a spear.

Pilate himself even “scourged” (whipped or lashed) Jesus. He first “washed his hands before the multitude, saying ‘I am innocent of the blood of this just person…'”, and then “scourged Jesus” before “delivering him to be crucified” (Mark 15:15; Matthew 27:26).

Thusly do the Gospels describe how the Romans dealt with this popular Jewish reformer with a huge Jewish following, “The King of the Jews,” whom they saw as a threat to Roman law and order, and to the privileged position of their collaborators in the priesthood.

It is hardly conceivable that an unruly Jewish mob could have intimidated the powerful, tough, blood-thirsty Roman ruler Pontius Pilate, or that the Jewish “mob” could have pressured Pilate to release Barabbas, who had participated in a revolt against the Romans and even “committed murder in the insurrection” (Mark 15:7).

Jesus was just one of the estimated 250,000 Jews crucified by the Romans. After executing him, the Romans went on to kill his closest disciples Peter and Paul, along with countless other Jewish “Christians”. They eventually killed or expelled from the region almost all of Jesus’ fellow Jews, thus setting the stage for 2,000 years of Jewish dispersal, suffering and persecution, and for the violence and territorial disputes that plague the Holy Land today.

But there were compelling reasons at the time for minimizing the culpability of the Romans in persecuting Jesus and his mainly Jewish followers. It would have been impossible, indeed suicidal, to try to publish and distribute, under harsh Roman rule, books that were critical of, and might incite opposition to, Rome. Better to blame “the Jews,” Jesus’ own people and supporters, even though they were victims of Roman persecution and murder.

This is obviously the reason the mob is quoted by Matthew (27:25), incredibly, as cursing itself in generational self-incrimination, “Let his blood be on us, and on our children,” the only place this statement occurs in the Bible.

Jesus himself would have been shocked at the falsehoods and persecution to which his own people have been subjected.

Yet the truth is well-known and documented in the Christians’ holiest book.

People of faith need to stick together and oppose the threats to our country and civilization from the anti-religion activists and the Moslem extremists who are terrorizing much of the world, especially with Christians coming under increasing persecution in many countries, even the U.S., the same enemies threaten both our people.

To the Muslim invaders who torched Notre Dame de Paris (construction accident my butt) I proclaim that Muhammed is DEAD, still buried in his Saudi Arabian grave.

Jesus Christ, on the other hand, a s the angel proclaimed in Matthew 28:6-7, ” He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead”!

He’s the King of kings and He’s the Lord of lords!

No means of measure can define His limitless love. No farseeing telescope can bring into visibility the coastline of His shoreless supply. No barrier can hinder Him from pouring out His blessings. He’s enduringly strong. He’s entirely sincere. He’s eternally steadfast. He’s immortally graceful. He’s imperially powerful. He’s impartially merciful.

He’s the greatest phenomenon that has ever crossed the horizon of this world.
He’s God’s Son. He’s the sinner’s Saviour. He’s the centrepiece of civilisation.
He stands in the solitude of himself. He’s unparalleled, He’s unprecedented.
He is the loftiest idea in literature. He’s the highest personality in philosophy.
He is the supreme problem in higher criticism. He’s the fundamental doctrine of true theology. He is the core and the necessity for spiritual religion. He’s the miracle of the age, He’s… yes He is.

The Pharisees couldn’t stand Him, but they found out they couldn’t stop Him. Pilate couldn’t find any fault in Him. Herod couldn’t kill Him. Death couldn’t handle Him and the grave couldn’t hold Him!
