Heritage on the “down low”

The number of Tennesseans now displaying Confederate Battle Flag license plates is higher than at any other point in the last decade, according to State data on specialty tags.

The Sons of Confederate Veterans plate, the proceeds from which benefit the organization’s Tennessee Division, has been issued by the state since 2004.

At the end of the 2018 fiscal year in June the State reported that 3,273 Sons of Confederate Veterans license plates were active in Tennessee, a number 72 percent higher than at the end of the 2015 fiscal year when the display of Confederate Flags was thrust into national debate.

The number of Tennesseans displaying SCV tags steadily increased in 2016 and 2017, according to data provided by the State, before peaking in the last year.

In Tennessee specialty plates have a $61.50 annual fee. $35 is allocated to the plate’s respective beneficiary, the Tennessee Arts Commission and the Highway Fund. So the way it breaks down is that depending on whether the plate is new or being renewed, the SCV’s share is is between $15.85 and $17.50 per year per license plate. According to the Department of Revenue, the Sons of Confederate Veterans received approximately $57,700 from the plates in the 2018 fiscal year.

The State of Texas successfully ended their SCV specialty plate offering. Efforts to eliminate the plate in Tennessee have so far failed. But there is currently an effort to prevent the SCV from receiving the funds generated from the sale of these plates.

The SCV sued the city of Memphis in January after the Mayor Memphis sold public land to a nonprofit in order to take down the statues of General Nathan Bedford Forrest and President Jefferson Davis. Monies received from license plates may have been used to pay some of the legal fees. Senator Sara Kyles is in the process of drafting legislation that if enacted by the General Assembly would prevent funds distributed by the State through the license plates from being issued to an organization that sues the government. Effectively, the new guidelines would target the SCV and prevent them from receiving the revenue from the plates.

A pair of parks previously named for Confederate generals will be rebranded for the second time since 2017 following a City Council meeting Monday in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Members of the Charlottesville City Council voted 4-1 during Monday’s meeting to rename both Emancipation Park, formerly Lee Park, and Justice Park, formerly Jackson Park, to Market Street Park and Court Square Park, respectively.

Wes Bellamy, a Democrat and the city’s former vice-mayor, was the only council member to vote against the name change, The Daily Progress newspaper reported.

Richmond City Councilman Michael Jones is again vying for the Council to determine the fate of the Confederate statues along Monument Avenue.

On Monday night, Jones revived a previously rejected resolution that, if approved, would request of the Virginia General Assembly the power for the Council to decide whether the monuments should stay or come down.

“To do anything, we’ve got to have local autonomy,” Jones said.

Last summer, Jones proposed a charter change seeking authority from the State to remove the statues on Monument Avenue. The Council voted down his attempt last December. Aside from Jones, only one other Council member – 6th District representative Ellen Robertson – supported it.

Several members said at the time they were hesitant to take action on the issue while Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney’s Monument Avenue Commission was still studying the matter. The 10-person commission issued its final recommendations earlier this month. They included adding signage to four of the statues and removing one – Davis – if localities gain permission to do so, either by way of a court decision or changes to state law.

Jones vowed to renew his effort after the Monument Avenue Commission released its report. Mayor Stoney said at the time he would support Jones’ bid for local control of the statues.

Jones measure has been referred to the Council’s Land Use, Housing and Transportation subcommittee. Its next scheduled meeting is August 21.

In October, the United Daughters of the Confederacy sued the Caddo Parish Commission to block removal of the monument after commissioners voted 7-5 to take it off the courthouse grounds. In May, the parish asked U.S. District Judge Robert James to throw out that lawsuit. The UDC asked for a trial.

On Wednesday, Judge James dismissed the UDC lawsuit ruling that the group failed to prove it had any “private property interest” in the patch of land where the monument sits. He also rejected arguments that the Commission had violated the group’s rights to free speech and equal protection under law.

The UDC contends that it owns the land on which the monument sits, making the plot private property the Caddo Commission can’t touch. The parish contends it owns the entire block that makes up the courthouse square.

Judge James had previously ruled against the UDC twice – once in January and again in May – saying the organization so far has failed to prove that it owns the monument site as the result of an early 20th century donation by the parish.

So far, the Parish hasn’t made specific plans to move the monument. Commissioners would have to vote to spend money to disassemble the monument and put it in storage or assemble it somewhere else. But Judge James’ recent ruling pretty much clears the path for the Commissioners to remove the monument.

Last week we reported that Baton Rouge lawyer Niles Haymer asked a judge for a change of venue because the town of Clinton had a Confederate soldier statue on the grounds of the East Feliciana Parish courthouse in Clinton.

In an update, we’ve discovered that on behalf of his client, Ronnie Anderson, 39, of Plaquemine, Haymer filed a motion with 20th Judicial District and also a letter of request to Clinton Mayor Lori Ann Bell on Monday requesting the East Feliciana Parish Police Jury be ordered to remove the monument from the courthouse grounds.

The Mayor could not be reached for comment Tuesday. The statue has stood outside the courthouse since 1909. The Police Jury determined in 2016 that it didn’t have the money or a reason to relocate the monument.

On Thursday additional news broke, this time, that the lawyer, Haymer was asking the Prosecutor to recuse for being g a “racist” and a supporter of the Confederate monument.

A Confederate Flag displayed on the top floor of the Bonneville apartment complex is drawing ire from some area residents.

The “rebel flag,” as it is commonly referred to, has been flying off the balcony of a fifth-floor apartment in the Bonneville for a number of months. The apartment and Flag are positioned across the street from city hall, and can be viewed from the building.

At a recent work session the Idaho Falls City Council discussed the issue of flags placed on city property. The Confederate Flag at the Bonneville apartment was mentioned, although it is displayed on private property, as an example of a controversial display of a flag or banner.

Idaho Falls Mayor Rebecca Casper said in the meeting that her office had received calls from residents expressing concern over the flag, which is prominently visible in the downtown core.

Casper issued a statement to the Post Register regarding the controversy.

“While I may not agree with someone’s point of view and the way they choose to express it, flying that flag is part of their constitutionally protected right to free speech,” Casper said.

Attempts to contact the tenant at the apartment where the flag is displayed were unsuccessful.

The Bonneville Apartments is set for a full renovation this year after being acquired by Boise-based developer The Housing Company. Residents at the complex are required to vacate the premises by the end of the month. Current Bonneville owner Kent Lott estimates there are 18 to 20 tenants currently remaining in the building.

The Sons of Confederate Veterans held a ceremony on July 20th at the site of the proposed National Confederate Museum, an upcoming museum dedicated to the Confederacy.

The $5 million museum is being built at the group’s headquarters in Columbia, Tennessee, at the onetime home of Confederate Col. Abram M. Looney. The event was intended to be a grand opening, but weather delays caused construction delays, and the museum will not be open until at least 2019.

Paul Gramling was elected as the order’s 76th Commander-in-Chief.

Gramling, a retired postal carrier, said the volunteer job entails serving as the face and CEO of the organization with about 33,000 members. He was elected to a two-year term. He previously was the group’s Lieutenant Commander-in-Chief.

Gramling is a member of Lt. Gen. Richard Taylor Camp No. 1308.

At least two Delaware State Fair vendors selling Confederate Flags were ordered Monday to remove those products from their inventory.

Despite a two-year policy, handkerchiefs, T-shirts, hats, belt buckles and blankets bearing the Confederate Flag were being sold at vendor booths just inside the fair’s main entrance and along the Midway. Officials took action against the vendors when a reporter from The News Journal asked about the fair’s policy.

In the aftermath, State Sen. Harris McDowell, D-Wilmington, is proposing that the General Assembly withhold the nearly $122,000 a year in state funds that are allocated to the Delaware State Fair if organizers continue to allow Confederate flags to be sold there.

He and fellow Joint Finance Committee co-chair Rep. Melanie George Smith, D-Bear, sent a letter to the Delaware State Fair’s board of directors on Monday requesting that vendors selling those items be barred from returning in the future.

On Wednesday Delaware Online, owned by USA Today, went to the Fair expecting to video a bunch of comments from fairgoers in opposition to the Flag. While they got a few, they were overwhelmed with statements from fairgoers either in support of the flag or at least opposed to ordering its removal.

Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and New York state fairs have each adopted similar rules in the last three years.

Lacking three members at a Monday night meeting, Madison’s Landmarks Commission decided to refer a decision on removing a Confederate marker in Forest Hill Cemetery to Aug. 27.

Lexington quietly relocated statues of John Hunt Morgan and John C. Breckinridge to the Lexington Cemetery late Tuesday, more than eight months after the statues were removed from downtown Lexington and placed in storage.

“Today we are doing exactly what we said we would do,” city spokeswoman Susan Straub said in a statement Tuesday after the cemetery had closed. “The statues of John Hunt Morgan and John Breckinridge were moved out of storage this afternoon to The Lexington Cemetery. The statues are mounted on granite bases we installed this evening. ”

Both men are buried in the cemetery. Breckinridge’s statue is in his family’s plot, near the grave of his father and wife. Hunt Morgan’s statue is in the Confederate cemetery. Lexington Cemetery also has a separate area for Union soldiers.

Scientists studying the world’s first submarine to sink an enemy ship say the Confederate crew never released an emergency mechanism that could have helped them survive their mission.

The H.L. Hunley and its eight crewmembers disappeared in February 1864 in Charleston Harbor shortly after signaling it had placed explosives on the hull of a Union ship.

Ever since the Hunley was raised from the ocean floor in 2000, scientists have worked to determine why the sub never returned to the surface.

Their latest findings show the crew never released more than 1,000 pounds of blocks which were typically used to keep the submarine upright but also could have been dumped to enable a quick rise in an emergency.

The keel blocks went on display at the Hunley’s North Charleston museum on Saturday.

The commander of F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming has agreed to replace a Bible on a POW/MIA table with a generic “book of faith,” according to documents released by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation. The MRFF is a militant Jewish organization that has fought against Nativity scenes, Bible studies and any outward expressions of the Christian faith on U.S. military installations.

The head of the foundation, Mikey Weinstein, wrote in the HuffPost that he is dedicated to fighting “virulent religious oppression carried out by incredibly well-funded gangs of fundamentalist Christian monsters who terrorize their fellow Americans by forcing their weaponized and twisted version of Christianity upon their helpless subordinates in our nation’s armed forces.”

The MRFF alleges to have “36 unnamed clients” at the Air Force base in Wyoming who have complained about the inclusion of the Bible on the table honoring prisoners of war and missing comrades. Weinstein even has the unmitigated gall to claim that the complainants are Christians? But I find that very hard to believe since I don not know of a single follower of Jesus Christ who is offended by the presence of a Bible.

Rather than investigate the legitimacy of Weinstein’s claims the Air Force base decided to temporarily rotate the Bible with books from other faiths until it could be permanently replaced with a “generic book of faith,” the MRFF said on its website.

“Our chaplains are purchasing a generic book of faith on Thursday and will let me know when that book is expected to arrive,” Col. Huser wrote to Weinstein.

But Weinstein was not satisfied with Huser’s response so he followed up with another email asking about the content of the “generic book of faith.” “I have never heard of a generic book of faith and I’m concerned that it might still be slanted towards the majority faith in this country; Christianity,” Weinstein wrote.

Emboldened, Weinstein is crusading to eradicate Bibles from POW/MIA tables at other locations. Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals from Ohio to Texas to New York have complied with his demands.

Patriotic Americans are calling on the Trump administration to defend the POW/MIA tables.

There has been a surge in the number of Muslims launching their bids for national and statewide offices. The primary season ahead of the November midterm elections is in full swing, and it has already broken records. AP reported, citing Jetpac, a non-profit company assisting Muslim candidates, that 90 Muslims initially stood for statewide and nationwide offices in this year’s elections. Some 50 are still standing in their respective races after primaries. 50 is a huge increase from about a dozen Muslim-Americans that ran for office in 2016, the report notes.

If they all succeed, Congress may receive up to nine new Muslim members.

Among the most celebrated Muslim political newcomers is Abdul El-Sayed, who is running for governor of Michigan. El-Sayed became the youngest health commissioner in a major city when he was appointed as the executive director of the Detroit Health Department at the age of 30. Now 33, he’s getting huge media attention and is being dubbed “the new Obama.”

Inspector General: Obama Paid $300 Million To ‘People Who Don’t Exist’

According to special inspector general John Sopko, Obama wasted at least $300 million on the salaries of “people who don’t exist”.

Barack Obama will always be remembered for a series of highly irregular overseas payments to authoritarian regimes, however according to a report by the special inspector general for Afghanistan reconstruction, those wasted millions are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Obama’s largesse.

According to special inspector general John Sopko, Obama wasted at least $300 million on the salaries of “people who don’t exist”, who were supposedly operating in Afghanistan, far away from the prying eyes of U.S. oversight. That’s not just fraud, folks. In fact, according to Sopko, it’s “Major fraud.”

Fox News had even reported as early as October 2016 that, based on a Sopko letter released to the Pentagon, the fraud could have amounted to more than $300 million annually.

“It’s not just the salaries,” he added. “But we’re funding schools based upon the number of students, so if you invent or inflate the number of students, you’re going to be paying more money. On the soldiers and the police, we’re paying for extra boots, for food, for everything else, logistics for numbers that don’t exist.”

WHO is pocketing the money being paid to all of these ghosts?

Tim Tebow will be inducted into Florida’s ring of honor, becoming the sixth player to receive the honor.

The school announced Tebow will be recognized during the LSU-Florida game on Oct. 6. His name will be unveiled on a wall inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.

The display will now feature Tebow and the other five members of the program’s ring of honor: linebacker Wilber Marshall, running back Emmitt Smith, 1966 Heisman winner and famed coach Steve Spurrier, 1996 Heisman winner Danny Wuerffel and defensive end Jack Youngblood.

Think for a second about what they are demanding. If you don’t automatically accept the imprecise, unspecific, never-fully-explained findings of shadowy intelligence agencies with long, documented track records of making serious mistakes, you’ve somehow betrayed your country. The very people who assured you Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, the ones who said the Shah would never fall in Iran, etc, etc…..THOSE people must be accepted without question or else.

On television this group is called the “Intelligence Community.” That’s an Orwellian name if there ever was one….where exactly IS this community we hear so much about? Does it have a ZIP code? A public library system? A youth football league? How long before Congress demands unthinking obedience to the “Lawmaker Community?” It’s a community after all, you must obey it…dissent is unpatriotic, and if you don’t agree, you’re working for Vladimir Putin.

That’s where we’re headed, by the way, and fast.

In some ways this whole story is about Donald Trump and what he said and what he does. But on a deeper level, it has nothing to do with Donald Trump. This is about democracy-whether or not voters rule their country. It turns out the very people telling you they are saving our democracy are working overtime to destroy it, and scolding you as they do.

There is a threat to our democracy, but it isn’t coming from Russia. It’s coming from the malevolent nexus between the Uniparty, Deep State and the Chaimstream Media, a powerfully evil alliance that’s hellbent on seeing through its Globohomo agenda and dispossessing Heritage Americans from their homeland, wherever their hearth.

Lest we forget in the current climate of anti-Trump hysteria that our intelligence agencies utterly discredited themselves in the lead-up to the Iraq War.

Respect and trust must be earned, and both can be easily lost. The “intelligence community” lost the respect and trust of mentally sane Americans when the three letter agencies discredited themselves over and over again, betraying either gross incompetence or treasonous malice. Now that Trump is calling them out, we’re supposed to genuflect before his nefarious Deep State enemies and take their word that Trump and what he represents is a threat to American institutions and values?

We should be so lucky that this threat materializes and rids our nation of these loathsome scum.

Muslim Immigration and the Confederate Flag
by Al Benson, Jr.

Al Benson, Jr., is the Editor of the Copperhead Chronicle. In addition to writing for Southern Patriot and other publications, he is a member of the Confederate Society of America and the League of the South.

Maybe I am just dense, but until I got an email from a friend up in Missouri, I had never even heard of this, or if I did it was so long ago I had totally forgotten it. It just goes to show you that the Internationalists, the One World Government crowd, is always at work 24/7 to force their agenda on people who just want to be left alone. However, unpleasant as it is for us. we have got to wake up and realize that the One World Government crowd is never going to let us or anyone else alone.

They have a Luciferian agenda to remake the entire world over into the image of their deity. The fact that Genesis 3 tells them this will never happen matters not at all to them as their apostles continue to “prowl about as roaring lions seeking whom they may devour.” And one way they seek to devour is through ethnic and cultural genocide.

I came across a site called http://balder.org/euromed-en and the article I found was titled: Free Muslim Immigration to Europe 2. It wasn’t long but it had to do with “secretive European Union-agreements with 10 European and North African countries” and it said “The Euro Mediterranean Declaration was agreed upon by the EU, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordan, the Palestinian Authority, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey and Israel and comprises: Comprehensive political partnership, among other things about:: establishing a free trade area and economic integration to begin in the year 2010,…Cultural partnership. The EU offers the populations of 9 Muslim Countries free movement of goods, services, capital and people into the EU.”

The “Cultural Policy” in all this “must avoid the popular distinction between ‘them’ and ‘us’…The Danish Foreign Ministry is educating us from our ‘stereotypes and prejudices’ towards Islamic culture.’ Naturally UNESCO is one of the groups involved in this propaganda campaign.

A brief comments about this turned up on http://www.abovetopsecret.com that said “It seemingly explains the influx of Muslim immigrants into Europe, once again without mandate, it enforces multiculturalism in Europe…with financial reward to participating nations. There are many links on the subject, many citing it as a massive failure.”

Another one I came across is https://www.liveleak.com/ No date on this one but it has posted two videos. I tried the first one and it was not available so I went to the second one and was able to pull it up. The title was The Barcelona Declaration/ Why Multiculturalism Has Failed in the EU. The man had somewhat of an accent, which doesn’t help with my hearing problem, but he gave a pretty fair explanation of much of what has happened in Europe.

My friend in Missouri gave a rather penetrating analysis of this and he connected some dots that many would not have noticed. I think he is right on the money! He said, in part, “The time of the Barcelona Declaration (1995) roughly corresponds with the beginning of the more widespread attacks on the Confederate Flag. At the time several of us were pointing out that the Flag attack was part of a larger plan that had to do with state and regional sovereignty. A resurgent South was just not part of the globalist plan. Little did I know that the Barcelona Dec was the blueprint for that plan. The Barcelona Declaration began implementation in 2010 of the beginning of the ‘migrant’ crisis…It is similar to the ‘Open Borders’ policy promoted in the US. It started in Europe but is now in the US and the heart of the globalist plan.”

His insightful comments prove that the last place you go to for “news” is the news media because what they fail to tell you is usually more important than the bovine fertilizer they spread in front of you as “breaking news.”

Dr. Chuck Baldwin emails the following question:

Tell me how Ted Cruz is so different from Chuck Schumer?

They all continue to perpetuate the same lies.

They all continue to escalate America’s never-ending “War on Terror.”

They are all puppets of a global conspiracy to advance the agenda of war profiteers and nation builders. The left-right, conservative-liberal, paradigm is one big giant SCAM. At the end of the day, the “War on Terror” goes on, bombs keep falling on people in the Middle East who had absolutely NOTHING to do with 9/11 and the money keeps flowing into the coffers of the international bankers and war merchants.

Loss of Heritage / Destruction of the People’s Property / Legislative Breach of Trust
by H. K. Edgerton

H. K. Edgerton is an activist for Southern heritage and a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. A former president of the NAACP, he is on the board of the Southern Legal Resource Center.

In my capacity as Chairman of the Board of Advisors of the Southern Legal Resource Center I recently entertained the following discourse with the Chief Trial Counsel to be passed on to the Executive Body.

After the church shooting in Charleston, South Carolina by a one Dylan Roof; the then Governor Nikki Haley, in complicity with the South Carolina Legislature, proceeded to put themselves in a state of War with the people of the State when they endeavored to destroy the integrity of the Confederate Soldier’s Cenotaph on the Capitol grounds with the removal of the soldiers Colors from this outside exhibit (the People’s property) breaching the trust the people put into their care that these Colors would remain there in a state of safety and security FOREVER.

This transgression was engendered by fear of the actions of domestic terrorist and frightful politicians who gave absolute power over the liberties and estate of the peoples will to them, and they became so embolden by Haley’s capitulation that anachronism has become the modus operandi to further this charge across the South.

In the great State of North Carolina in the City of Durham, where there is a Monument Protection Law, a Cenotaph was pulled down and destroyed with no consequence to the criminal perpetrator.

But, in Memphis, Tennessee, after the Historic Commission, a body of the Legislature charged with the issuance of a waiver that would allow the removal of a Cenotaph, or historic name change, refused to grant one to the Memphis City Council that would have allowed them to remove the Cenotaph of the Honorable General Nathan Bedford Forest. The Council, in a brazen move, disregarding the law, sold a GRAVE on People’s Property to a crony for far less than the property value and removed the Generals bust from the base of the Cenotaph. It is important to note that the Mayor was of Northern lineage, and expressed his regional bias.

In the City of Tampa, Florida, after the Hillsborough County Commissioners in a 4-3 vote not to remove the Confederate soldiers Cenotaph from the County grounds; County Commissioner Les Miller solicited the aid of domestic terrorist (Black Lives matter, ANTI-FA, and a host of George Soros sponsored individuals ) who would spray paint the a private Cenotaph, spewing blood-red paint not only on names of Confederate heroes, but I know, also on the name of your late husband in a sickening display.

They rampaged through the streets illegally covering their faces, and threaten the Commissioners until they reversed their vote and removed the Cenotaph. It now sits disgracefully between a taco stand and a pawn shop.

In Bradenton, Florida, County Commissioner Charles Smith would order the street cleaning crew who had no expertise in removing monuments to remove the Confederate Soldier’s Cenotaph; they promptly dropped and broke it. He would later lead a parade don in a Manatee County shirt alongside ANTI-FA, Black Lives Matter and others; even while messages of killing Police by these terrorist covered the front pages of the local newspaper. And later in a Commission meeting Smith would berate the Chair for admonishing him for doing so. One of the Commissioners would voice in a Council meeting reported that these people have visited my home, and my business while intimidating myself and employees.

The President, when asked to get involved in the carnage now being played out, would literally encourage the people to turn to the 10th Amendment; it is the People’s problem of the States; they should deal with it.

The People have tried to follow that charge. They have come time again before Commissions, Councils, Community forums , School Boards speaking in the majority to include armed with scientific polls that clearly indicate the peoples will is not to remove the names or historical works of art from their assigned spaces. It has mattered not in places like the aforementioned and Lakeland, Florida where a Northern born Councilman would entertain the motion to remove the Confederate soldiers Cenotaph from Munn Park, to be damned with the People’s will. The “black commissioner” changed his opinion on the Cenotaph after the NAACP threatened to come and protest at his house while he was out of town, leaving his wife and children home alone.

And where the historic City of St. Augustine, the City Commission capitulated to the demand of the so-called “Reverend” Rawls and his monthly rampages of intimidation disrupting tourists and locals by offering a compromise in lieu of not removing these Cenotaphs. Such plaques are nothing more than another attack to divide Southern Blacks and Southern Whites with the most preposterous set of lies and distortions I have ever encountered anywhere in my life time. If the Code of Duella was still lawful; I would challenge the consultant who proposed these plaques to a duel.

Any plaques placed should tell the story of the Black Confederate soldiers Dr. Alexander Darnes, Christopher Columbus Quarls, or Napoleon Nelson, or the Yang brothers, or the Native Americans, or the Spanish who fought in the integrated Confederate military. Preferably, they should remain in the same historical context they were placed. They are historical works of art that should be afforded protection by the Constitution of the United States of America. They are OUR freedom of speech and expression and it is being hammered down to grist by these destructive tyrants.

These are nothing less than domestic terrorists who desire to divide and conquer America, and we must resist. I call on President Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions to investigate these incidents of Domestic Terrorism and swiftly act to restore safety of the elected officials who are threatened by marauding terrorists.

Was John McCain a Traitor? Americans left behind in Vietnam
by James W. King

James W. King is the Commander of Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp #141 in Albany, Georgia.

Having recently accused president Trump of “treason,” the biggest traitor in Washington D.C. might be none other than Senator John McCain.

Disturbing information continues to emerge about his direct ties to Muslim terrorists and the London bomber, and how he’s owned and funded by Saudi terrorists and George Soros.

Ever since Trump got into office, McCain has done everything in his power to subvert the President of the United States, which is a federal crime.

As McCain continues to garner the sympathy of many Americans who still falsely believe he’s a Vietnam “war hero,” it’s time that we finally set the record straight about the unbelievable things McCain did during his time in the military, before McCain dies and nauseating tributes are made about his “service” in Vietnam.

It’s important to note that due to McCain’s familial ties to high ranking Naval commanders during his time in service (his father and grandfather were both four-star admirals), the majority of McCain’s massive catastrophes and scandals in the Navy were completely buried, and his military records sealed.

Of course there is the cover up that John McCain was solely responsible for the horrifying atrocity aboard the USS Forrestal Aircraft Carrier on July 31, 1967 where his cocky maneuver of doing a “wet start” of his plane would kill 134 sailors, in the deadliest loss of life the Navy has ever seen. But because of McCain’s daddy being a 4-star admiral, the entire incident was buried, and the Navy never officially put blame on anyone for the tragedy. Astonishingly, McCain would not only be allowed to continue serving in the Navy, but would go on to be responsible for the deaths of numerous other men, in a scandal that has been successfully buried for decades.

Three months after the bloody tragedy on the USS Forrestal Aircraft Carrier, John McCain was sent on a bombing mission over Hanoi in October of 1967 when he was shot down and captured by the North Vietnamese, where he’s go on to be a prisoner of war until 1973. After being released from captivity, McCain would use his POW story and veteran status to rise to political prominence, where his image as a “Vietnam war hero” would go on to propel him to be elected as a United States Senator.

John “Songbird” McCain was welcomed back as a hero by President Nixon. But a “hero” is the last thing that John McCain was or will ever be. What most people don’t know is the massive government scandal that McCain helped hide, as he’d go on for decades to tirelessly work to bury stunning information about American prisoners over in Vietnam who unlike him, didn’t return home. Using his position as a senator, McCain would be behind the scenes quietly pushing and sponsoring federal laws that would keep the most damning information about our POWs buried through classified documents.

The secrets that John McCain has sought to hide about Vietnam POWs are massive. Despite sworn testimony by two Defense Secretaries of “the men left behind” in Vietnam, McCain continued to push the massive lie that there were no survivors, much to the horror of POW families who were frantic to know the truth about what happened to their loved ones. Enormous amounts of government documents indicate that hundreds of prisoners held in Vietnam were not returned when President Nixon signed the peace treaty in January of 1973. Only 591 in Hanoi were released, among them, Navy combat pilot John S. McCain.

After the war, President Nixon promised the Vietnamese a $3.25 billion in “postwar reconstruction” aid “without any political conditions.” But there was a catch to this promise, where Nixon had included that Congress would have to approve these funds; approval that never happened. Furious that the American government had double-crossed them, Hanoi decided to keep the remaining hundreds of American prisoners, because their ransom money (post war provisions) never came.

CIA whistleblowers said that the government wanted to keep these missing men a secret, because as more years passed, it became more and more difficult for the government to admit that it knew about the prisoners that were left behind. Years later, CIA officials admitted that their intel indicated that the remaining POWs were eventually executed by the Vietnamese, as they were no longer useful bargaining chips.

After the Pentagon’s POW/MIA office was publicly shamed by internal whistleblowers that there were in fact still men in Vietnam being held as POWs, the pressure from the families and Vietnam veterans finally forced the government in 1991 to create the Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA Affairs, to investigate these allegations. John Kerry was made chairman of the board, and McCain became its most pivotal member. In the end, this committee became part of the debunking machine, and McCain would become paramount to sweeping the entire atrocity of these forgotten POWs under the rug.

But what people don’t know is John McCain’s vital role in keeping this story about these abandoned POWs hidden from the American public, as a traitor who completely turned his back on his brothers-in-arms who had remained in captivity by the Vietnamese.

In the 1990s, legislation was proposed to Congress called “the Truth Bill” that would’ve provided complete transparency about these prisoners and missing men. But the Pentagon and McCain bitterly opposed the bill, and it went nowhere. People were predictably outraged over the bill being shot down, so in an effort for McCain and crooked Pentagon officials to cover their asses, the McCain Bill,” suddenly appeared several months later.

This bill eventually became law in 1991, but would only create a bureaucratic maze, making the truth for the families completely impossible to discover. The provisions of the law explicitly states why the Pentagon and other agencies are justified for not releasing information about prisoners held in captivity. Later that year, the Senate Select Committee was created, and McCain and Kerry would work together to bury the last renaming evidence on the missing men.

The American Conservative reported on the other ways McCain screwed over the POWs, by authoring a crippling amendment to the Missing Service Personnel Act, that stripped away the obligations that commanders were previously held to of speedily searching for missing men and reporting these incidents to the Pentagon.

The American Conservative reported:

“McCain was also instrumental in amending the Missing Service Personnel Act, which had been strengthened in 1995 by POW advocates to include criminal penalties, saying, ‘Any government official who knowingly and willfully withholds from the file of a missing person any information relating to the disappearance or whereabouts and status of a missing person shall be fined as provided in Title 18 or imprisoned not more than one year or both.’ A year later, in a closed House-Senate conference on an unrelated military bill, McCain, at the behest of the Pentagon, attached a crippling amendment to the act, stripping out its only enforcement teeth, the criminal penalties, and reducing the obligations of commanders in the field to speedily search for missing men and to report the incidents to the Pentagon.”

“About the relaxation of POW/MIA obligations on commanders in the field, a public McCain memo said, ‘This transfers the bureaucracy involved out of the [battle] field to Washington.” He wrote that the original legislation, if left intact, “would accomplish nothing but create new jobs for lawyers and turn military commanders into clerks.'”

“McCain argued that keeping the criminal penalties would have made it impossible for the Pentagon to find staffers willing to work on POW/MIA matters. That’s an odd argument to make. Were staffers only “willing to work” if they were allowed to conceal POW records? By eviscerating the law, McCain gave his stamp of approval to the government policy of debunking the existence of live POWs.”

What’s even more sick is how McCain demonized the two Pentagon chiefs’ sworn testimonies who testified under oath about the men left behind, while insisting that all the evidence – to include documents, witnesses, satellite photos – be completely buried. He would go on to paint the entire story as an “unpatriotic myth” calling the testimony of anyone coming forward Vietnam’s POW’s the “bizarre rantings of the MIA hobbyists.” To this day, McCain regularly vilifies those who try to get their hands on these classified documents (that he’s worked for decades to conceal) as “hoaxers,” “charlatans,” “conspiracy theorists,” and “dime-store Rambos.”

Ironically, the very same man who who for decades has been propped up and hailed a POW war hero and crusader for the interests of other POWs, is the very same man responsible for their deaths. It’s absolutely sick how this man, despite his murdering and treasonous and crooked antics for decades, is to this day regarded as a “hero” in the minds of millions of Americans. It’s finally time that we set the record straight on who John “Songbird” McCain truly is before he dies of brain cancer, and nauseating tributes are made about his “patriotic service” to our country.

We reported how the sale of Confederate items was prohibited midway through this year’s Delaware State Fair. Banning Confederate items at fairs has been a growing trend over the last few years, especially in the northern fairs.

What I find so interesting is that there is such a large market in the Northern marketplaces. After all, if there were not a market it wouldn’t be an issue! So even many in the North know, as they say that, “The South was Right!”

But in at least a few places they have not banned the sale of Confederate merchandise, nor do they encourage it.

Pennsylvania does not have a State Fair, but every year at least half the Commonwealth’s counties hold their own fairs.

The longest running Pennsylvania fair is in York County with 252 years in the record books. The Reading Fair is celebrating its 164th year. And, the Bloomsburg Fair is being held for the 163rd time.

At the York Fair, the sale of Confederate Flag items is not banned. However, the fair’s general manager, Mike Froehlich, said fair officials recognize that “the symbol is offensive to some people.” So, the guidelines for vendors at the York Fair is that they can sell Confederate trinkets, souvenirs, novelties, knickknacks, t-shirts, hats, lighters and Flags — but they cannot display them.

“If someone asks (a vendor) for something like that, the vendor can say, ‘Yeah, I got it hear under the counter,'” Froehlich said.

“The vendors have been very cooperative,” Froehlich said. “It’s kind of a middle of the ground approach, but we feel it’s appropriate.”

The Allentown Fair will have a written policy banning offensive items next year, said marketing manager Jessica Ciecwisz. But for this year, like in York, Allentown Fair vendors are selling Confederate items “on the down low.”

Which, sadly, is exactly how many once proud Southerners are today advocating their heritage – “on the down low.”

In other words, they would never openly advocate for it or display it. But is is available, out of plain sight, on the off chance someone asks.

If you haven’t figured it out yet, we at Dixie Heritage are NOT advocating for our Heritage “on the down low.” We do not keep our history or our heritage or the symbols of our ancestors “under the table.” The enemies of our heritage are out in the open and outspoken – and so are we! As they raise their voices, we will raise ours! And I am writing now to encourage you to bring your voice from out of the closet and join us!

Until Next Week,
