Subject: Va Flaggers: Interstate 64 Flag Raising/Fourth Anniversary Picnic & Auction THIS WEEKEND
On September 28th, 2013, the Virginia Flaggers raised the FIRST I-95 Battle Flag in Chester, Virginia:
Almost two years later, to the day, we are pleased to announce that we will be raising our 12th Memorial Roadside Battle Flag…and our FIRST on Interstate 64, THIS SATURDAY, September 26th, 10:00 a.m.
The dedication service will include music by Pipe Major David Hinton, a Confederate Color and Honor Guard provided by the William Latane Camp #1690 Color Guard, and keynote remarks by Rev. Dr. Herman White, Chaplain of the North Carolina Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Located minutes from downtown Richmond, this memorial will consist of a 50 foot flag pole, flying a 10′ x 15′ Confederate Battle Flag. Traffic counts for that section of 64 are reported to be 71,000+ per day, and as you can imagine, we are THRILLED that our latest project is the closest one yet to the Capital of the Confederacy.
We will send an update with the physical address later this week, once the installation is complete, and wish to invite all of our friends and supporters to join us for this exciting ceremony and flag raising!
THE NEXT DAY, Sunday, September 27th, we will hold our Fourth Anniversary Family Picnic and Auction at the picnic pavilion of the Mechanicsville Moose Lodge, 7167 Flag Lane, Mechanicsville, VA 23111
The fun starts at 3:00 pm, with live music by “Southern Comfort”, games for the kids, and time for fun and fellowship. Supper will be served at 5:30, followed by a live auction at 6:30, with the opportunity to bid on the first 10 x 15 Confederate Battle Flag that flew at the First Memorial Battle Flag site, among many other valuable items.
Raffle prize drawings and a silent auction for smaller items will also take place throughout the afternoon.
The Va Flaggers will provide BBQ and all the fixins, soft drinks, iced tea, and lemonade. Guests and attendees are asked to bring side dishes/desserts of their choosing to share.
Whether you are a core Flagger, one of our many supporters, one who is interested in learning more about the Va Flaggers, or simply would like the chance to bid on some beautiful Confederate items, you are welcome to join us in the celebration, as we look back at our first four years…and share our vision and plans for the future.
PLEASE RSVP as soon as possible and let us know if you plan to attend, by email at email@example.com
We are also accepting gifts of items for the door prizes and silent and/or live auction and welcome and appreciate your support.
We are looking forward to a great weekend…rain or shine…and hope to see you there!
