On July 4th, Johnny Cooper left Hazel Green, AL. His mission: Walk to DC, carrying a Confederate Flag….
“To inform folks symbolically that without a return to the foundations of our Country, namely the culture of Christ, a return to supporting the family, and to the bedrock of our government, the constitution ~ Our Country is Finished” – Johnny Cooper
Along the route so far, hundreds of wonderful people across each state… Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and now Virginia… have stepped up to assist with security during the day as he walks, lodging, and food… with many opening their homes to him for lodging, food, and fellowship.
Johnny entered Virginia over the weekend, and will be in the Lynchburg area today. For safety purposes, we are not publishing the specifics of his route ahead of time, but he will be traveling near/around Charlottesville, Culpeper, Warrenton, and then on to DC.
The Virginia Flaggers are coordinating volunteers to help escort him through the Commonwealth, as he makes his way to DC. Each day, two volunteers are need to escort by car, and folks are also welcome to walk with him. He typically walks from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, so someone is needed to pick him up from wherever he stays the night before, take him back to the walking route, escort during the walk, and then get him safely to supper/lodging.
Reggie Bennett of the Campbell Guards, SCV Camp #2117 , and Kathy Mayhew and Rhonda Worley of the Major General Thomas L. Rosser Chapter #13, OCR are just a few who have assisted since he entered Virginia, escorting him through Pittsylvania County, and helping with meals and lodging.
If you can help in ANY capacity over the next few weeks, please contact us for more information.
Let’s make sure this Patriot receives a WARM Virginia welcome and our finest hospitality as he forwards the colors AND the Cause through the Commonwealth!
