JACKSON, Miss. – Governor Phil Bryant says he will not call Mississippi lawmakers to the Capitol for a special session to consider removing a confederate symbol from the state flag.

Senator Kenny Wayne Jones, (D-Canton), Chairman of the Legislative Black Caucus called out the Governor to set a special session on redesigning the flag that many consider racially divisive.

Bryant said Thursday that he only calls special legislative sessions for natural disasters, or to consider a large economic development project.
