Famous Confederate Clothing Company Says Flag Represents ‘Heritage, Not Hate’

A famous Confederate clothing company seems to be the only one defending the right to fly the Confederate flag.
After Dylann Roof stormed into a historically black church five days ago and shot nine people, many have demanded that South Carolina lawmakers take down the Confederate flag from state capitol grounds.
Dixie Outfitters is a clothing line owned by Barber and Company. Its tagline is “Preserving Southern Heritage Since 1861,” and its logo contains the Confederate flag. In a post on the line’s Facebook page, Barber and Company made the case for the Confederate flag.
They say it represents heritage, not hate.
“There is real evil in this world, and some people have tried to hide their evil deeds behind symbols, including the Confederate Flag.”
“We at Dixie Outfitters stand behind the pride and heritage of that flag, just as we stand behind the values represented by the American Flag.”

When one reporter stopped by a Dixie Outfitters store this week, a female employee declined to talk about the debate. She only said, “It ain’t coming down.”
