EdWeek Update: Specialists Weigh Common Social Studies Standards
Gentlemen:
Note the forward. As you’ll read, there was an effort to set common History standards, back in the early 90’s. The results actually weren’t too bad, as slavery was listed as only one of many causes of the War, but resistance from the NAACP, MALDEF, and others, racist all, de-railed the effort. Now, they’re about to start, again.
Please familiarize yourselves with the current national standards, and start building a network that can and will write letters and e-mails to the people who start the action. They WILL try to re-write the current WSI story.
