Va Flaggers Update 9-18-2012

From: info@VAflaggers.com

It has been a busy couple of weeks for the Va Flaggers and we have much to share!

On Tuesday, September 4th, the Va Flaggers traveled to Isle of Wight to speak to the Isle of Wight Avengers, SCV Camp #14.

The Va Flaggers spoke to the camp about flagging and getting involved in fighting heritage violations. The food was great, the fellowship wonderful, we were warmly received, and enthusiastically supported. The Va Flaggers presented the camp with gifts of "The Truth About the Confederate Battle Flag C.D.’s" and two bottles of the Sesquicentennial wines from Horton winery. Later the wine was auctioned and the camp raised $100.

The highlight of the night took place in the business meeting. The Isle of Wight Avengers voted UNANIMOUSLY to NOT renew their membership at the Museum of Confederacy and withdraw ALL financial support until a Confederate flag flies at the new museum in Appomattox!!!!!!

God bless the men of the Isle of Wight Avengers!

The following evening, Wednesday, September 6th, we joined the Edmund Ruffin FireEaters Camp#3000 for their monthly meeting, as two Va Flaggers, TriPp Lewis, and his son, Jack, were inducted into the SCV.

Young Jack, a veteran Flagger, had eagerly anticipated his 12th birthday so that he could become a member of the SCV and it was a very proud moment for father, son, and the Virginia Flaggers!  🙂

On Tuesday night, September 11th, the Virginia Flaggers once again joined the Capt. William Latane Camp #1690, SCV for their monthly meeting.  Va Flagger and Latane Camp and Color Guard member Frank Yates, Jr. brought a special message to his camp about the need to stand and fight against those who are waging war against our flags, our ancestors, and our Heritage.  He urged his fellow SCV members to join the Va Flaggers in our quest to forward the colors, educate the public, and stand in protest when action is needed.  In this photo, Chaplain Yates is administering the oath to the two newest members of the Latane Camp, just before addressing the gathering.

In the meantime, our efforts to return the flags and restore the honor at the Confederate War Memorial/Pelham Chapel continue, with flaggings twice weekly.  Watch for an update under separate cover.
