Subject: Europe wants to KNOW about the Confederacy.
To: Kevin Carroll <kcomri@tds.net>

Dear Patriots (bcc herein w/permission to forward),

The gentleman herein (inquiring), is from Rome, Italy. He has contacted us to ‘hear the Confederate side’.

He is a graduate senior at the University of Roma Tre in Rome majoring in History.

Two years ago he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in History and is now preparing his Master’s Thesis on North American History.

His Thesis is on OUR Confederacy and his questions to us, as well as our Web Director, Kevin Carroll’S reply to him, are noted below.

I have omitted his last name & e-mail address for obvious reasons.

I have decided to share his Inquiry with ALL as it is indicative of the Growing sense of Awareness throughout the world culminating from the SAME ‘Elements’ they too are experiencing abroad.

It is NOT so strange that the World Over recognizes the Confederate Battle Flag & associates IT with Sovereignty & Freedom.

Only HERE in Washington’s U.S.A. is it demonized…..but is that so hard to understand when those who responsible for its miss-portrayal are the SAME PEOPLE who have been actively TRANSFORMING AMERICA for decades!

Thus, is it’s elimination along with ALL related Historical materials relating to the Southern Confederacy from their History Books A SURPRISE?

The conditions leading up to 1860 and those FOLLOWING 1865 are virtually NON-EXISTENT!

Once again, this Confederate Society has always RUN TO OUR Confederate Heritage when ‘OTHERS’ were running from it. YOU KNOW who they ARE!

The Flag, like its People and as per Mr. Carroll’s comments herein in his reply to this young man in Europe, represent a PEOPLE who simply wanted to be left alone, FREE from a Growing Central Government who wanted ANYTHING BUT-

STATE SOVEREIGNTY, as was Intended by the Founders….

wherein the ‘Dog would always be in control of its Own Tail’!

Craig Maus,

Subject: RE: New Form Entry: Contact Form

Dear Mr. V.:

My compliments to you sir for taking the time to contact us regarding your thesis on the use of our Confederate battle flag. In order to help you prepare supporting documentation for this project, I have taken the liberty to copy Craig Maus, the President of the Confederate Society and Susan Hathaway, the leader of the group known as the Virginia flaggers. I would ask each of them to send additional thoughts and comments relating to your 2-part question in furtherance of your interesting line of study.

Craig has been involved in the Confederate movement for over two decades and has done much work to set the record straight on the history of the 19th century and to draw clear lines (dots if you will) from the pending collapse of the US,  today, and its roots in the destruction of our Confederacy in 1865.

Ms. Hathaway has done more to restore the honor of our precious battle flag than any other person in America and she works tirelessly in teaching and advocating its proper use as a soldier’s battle flag while patiently instructing the less informed of the rights of the Confederate veterans. Those veterans have the same rights as US veterans (by US law) and it is a point that very few are aware of.

Now in giving my explanation of your 2-part question, I would preface my brief remarks by saying our flag and symbols have been usurped by hate groups, as you say, but also has been  demonized by leftist and socialist groups such as the NAACP which declared war on all things Confederate in 1991 by stating that our history was an “odious blight on history and the universe” (paraphrased);  and groups such as them and their allies in the SPLC viciously attack anyone standing up for Confederate rights, veterans or symbols as racists, bigots and other slanderous names. Groups like these forced Ole Miss University to take down the Confederate flags at football games, have monuments to Confederate heroes removed and forced groups such as the Sons of Confederate Veterans into a form of compliant submission.

Too few are left of the true Confederates willing to take a stand for the rights of their deceased descendants.

Now briefly in response to your 2- part question.

First, I would like to know how you feel about the use of the battle flag outside of the USA. In Europe there is a large use of the confederate flag as symbol of country music or generalized rebellion to authority. Do you find this offensive?

1.    Absolutely not. We find it refreshing! It is nice to see the flag used in a positive form supporting country music as it allows the masses to become comfortable with our heritage once again. It helps to erase all the years of hate that have been thrown up against it by nefarious groups (such in question 2) as well as the groups mentioned above. The flag will always stand for what it once was: a soldiers battle flag in the fight against tyranny. Read our website regarding the true nature of “Lincoln’s war” and the man who ravished & deflowered the South.

Second, what do you think of the display of the confederate flag by such violent and hate-based group as the Klan or naziskins?

2.    We are appalled whenever the flag is hi-jacked by nefarious groups such as these. Remember the Klan used to march under the U.S. flag until they decided to mix in the Confederate flag. Therefore the Klan is a USA hate group and is NO WAY affiliated with anything Confederate. The Nazi’s were socialists as are the people running the USA. Confederates are the antithesis of Socialists. They are liberty and freedom loving people who, as our President Davis said on many occasion, “would like to left alone.” They are not the mudslinging, hate mongering, history distorting people that currently reside in Washington City (Washington, DC).

They are a God fearing & liberty-loving people- striving to correct a history that has been so demonized & distorted by the Political Zealots who would like to see us eliminated once and for all. But alas, the Confederate heart and spirit can never die as it is driven by the holy spirit and waits its time as the people of Israel did when exiled to Babylon.

Finally, in the last two decades I noticed a very boom of gadgets showing confederate symbols as for example the battle flag or portraits of southern heroes ( Lee, Jackson, Davis, Forrest, etc). There are t-shirts, coffee mugs, plates, hats, car stickers, etc. Do you find this inappropriate? Do you think that this “pop” display of confederate symbols distorts their meanings?

3.    I do not find that offensive in the least. These are our heroes. Why is ok for t-shirts of Lincoln, Marx, Che Guevara and Obama to sell? The leftists (socialists) have their heroes and we have ours. Their meaning (as you ask) can be better explained when people, like yourself, take the time to understand what that meaning is. I think you have selected a great thesis and please feel free to use any of our writings and posts as reference materials.

We have many Scholars, PHD’s and a variety of Excellent FOLKS who contribute to the Society.  Some, sadly, as it is a ‘reflection’ of these unfortunate times, cannot reveal  their names due to the nature of the sensitive positions they hold.

Giuliano, one of the great hoaxes ever perpetrated on the American people was the true nature of War for Southern Independence.

It was NEVER a Civil War in the first place,  as a Civil War by definition,  is that in which two or more factions are fighting for control of the ‘same’ government-  i.e. Syria, Libya, Egypt etc.

The War for Southern Independence was a war fought between TWO Nations, one Confederate and one ‘Federal’, whose controlling and majority influence AT THE TIME was intent on making it a NATIONAL GOVERNMENT.

The victors have since written the history books and have blamed it all on slavery when in fact, during 1862, slaves were used to build the U.S. Capital.

In 1863, Lincoln’s ‘Emancipation Proclamation’ freed the slaves in the Confederacy, a Nation he had NO jurisdiction in, while keeping them bound in & under Union control.

Lincoln scoffed at the slave question in 1865 (2 months before Lee surrendered) and compared the “freed slaves to groveling hogs”.  His war secretary told Judge Campbell of the Southern Delegation that “they could keep their slaves if they signed a document of surrender”.

Well Sir, here is tidbit of history for you: The Confederacy NEVER surrendered! Sure the Armies did, but General Lee did not have the authority to surrender the government and

President Davis languished in prison over 2 years while being tortured to sign a declaration of surrender that he did NOT.

We exist today as much as we did back in 1860, albeit without the armies and masses of people who understand the true nature as described herein. The U.S. government (through their public school system) over many generations, have done an exemplary job of wiping out all things Confederate from their history books. Perhaps you can help us set the record straight??

In your service and Deo Vindice

Let me introduce myself, my name is Giuliano V. and I’m currently a senior student in History at the University of “RomaTre” in Rome, Italy. Two years ago I earned a bachelor degree in modern history and now I’m preparing my final master thesis in North American History.

Being half American and having an ancestor who died in the Civil War I’m very interested in American culture and society. The subject of my thesis is “The use of Confederate symbols in contemporary southern culture”. In my essay I would like to demonstrate how the rebel battle flag has lost its connotation of racial hatred in the last decades.

So I’m trying to contact the major confederate heritage associations to ask a couple of questions. If you, as the Confederate Society of America would like to respond it would be very helpful to me.

First, I would like to know how you feel about the use of the battle flag outside of the USA. In Europe there is a large use of the confederate flag as symbol of country music or generalized rebellion to authority. Do you find this offensive?

Second, what do you think of the display of the confederate flag by such violent and hate-based group as the Klan or naziskins?

Finally, in the last two decades I noticed a very boom of gadgets showing confederate symbols as for example the battle flag or portraits of southern heroes ( Lee, Jackson, Davis, Forrest, etc). There are t-shirts, coffee mugs, plates, hats, car stickers, etc. Do you find this inappropriate? Do you think that this “pop” display of confederate symbols distorts their meanings?

Thank you for any helps in this matter, and I hope to hear from you at your convenience
Sincerely,
Giuliano V.
