RE: Tea Party Bigots SHNV

You have to remember that the tea party is not one large group but thousands of small groups.  The local Patriots of East Tennessee, was founded by a Confederate reenactor, for example.

I avoid trying to make the Tea Party explicitly Confederate because there are just too many people ignorant about what the Confederacy actually was.  It’s easier to advance principles without trying to tie them to the Confederacy.  The Tea Party provides an opportunity to move people toward freedom even if there are many who don’t understand the Confederacy.  Many in the Tea Party agree with the Confederates and don’t know it.  I will sacrifice the Confederacy in the short term to win Freedom and I believe Confederate principles in the long term.

Tea Party groups just helped to to put on a nullification rally in Chattanooga, for example.  If the tea party continues to move in the right direction, that’s all that matters.  Truth will eventually come out about the Confederacy.  Keep helping  the Tea Party to move toward further and further toward rejection of central government power.

The Tea Party represents the awakening of the public at large.  You just can’t expect them to get everything all at once.  I will continue to repeatedly make an example out of the events leading up to the Revolutionary War.  The people didn’t just all come together one day and decide to split from the monarchy, it was a very long and drawn out process of moving the people slowly in the right direction.  The Sons of Liberty, the 18th century tea party, existed for over 10 years before Independence was declared.  It took a very long time for the people to decide that the King and government could not be reasoned with.  Even then there were people who never got it.  There were actually members of the Sons of Liberty who fought for reform, but when the time actually came, sided with the King.  You can’t expect perfection from the Tea Party only help it to move in the right direction.  It is my belief that the Tea Party represents the greatest potential movement for freedom in any of our lifetimes.  We can’t afford to make the Tea Party our enemy, and some things are just going to have to be put up with in the short term in order that we as individuals might help shape the Tea Party.

The Tea Party made us their enemy. Like Val said. "They drive away those who support their position in order to curry favor with those who hate them."
