S. E. Georgia Road Dawgs Baseball Finish 4th in the United States

In their first trip ever to the USSSA World Series competition the South East Georgia Road Dawg 14 and under baseball team has won 4th place in the nation.

The World Series competition held in Tulahoma, Tn. July 23-28, 2001 hosted 32 of the top teams from all over the United States. Teams qualified for a berth in the USSSA World Series by winning invitational tournaments or State qualifiers.

The Road Dawgs lost only three games in the tournament, all by one run and all to the top three finishing teams in the United States.

Two Wayne County players, Michael Jones and Shamari Curry were selected for the All Tournament team. Both players hit home runs in Bennett Stadium where only three home runs were hit during the entire series.

This team is a fine example of Southern Gentlemen and outstanding athletes. Dixie Outfitters is proud to be the sponsor of the 2001 S.E. Georgia Road Dawgs.
