Suggestions For Virginians
From where I sit it appears that both the media and the NAACP are incredibly frustrated with Delegate Hargrove’s refusal to knuckle-under. I personally have longed to find someone in public office who didn’t know the steps to the “Trent Lott Trot” and who had no intention of learning them. It appears then, at least for now, that one may have surfaced. More importantly, the reaction of Virginians and the public in general has been overwhelmingly in his favor and this is proving to be an embarrassment for the NAACP, the media, and liberal or neo-con politicians.
However, one repercussion that might occur is a censure by Hargrove’s fellow delegates. I suggest that Virginians not only contact Hargrove’s office to express support, but contact their own delegates as well if they don’t live in Hargrove’s district. Tell your own representative that if he or she even looks the wrong way at Hargrove that you will make sure that he (or she) will be voted out of office the next time they are up for reelection.
The public is speaking out – and it’s not what the NAACP and its talking heads in the media want to hear. I’m certainly no political maven or strategist, and as a leader, I couldn’t lead a pack of starving wolves to fresh meat, but I get the feeling that it’s time to, I think the phrase is – “KEEP THE SKEER ON ‘EM”?!
Write your representatives. Threaten them with unemployment. Again, I’m no expert but something tells me that this is an important battle and that it actually be won!
