Gaston County, N.C.– Racial tensions are running high at a local high school in Dallas after someone displayed a confederate flag on school grounds this week. The incident at North Gaston High School, is still under investigation. But to add to the friction, at least three students were suspended Friday after getting into an altercation fueled by the presence of the rebel flag at the school. "Three students were suspended for a verbal altercation this morning," said Gaston County Schools spokeswoman Bonnie Reidy. "It was a carry over from the incident yesterday (Thursday), I believe," she adds.

The flag was taped onto the pole outside of the school when students arrived Thursday morning. School officials are still investigating the incident. A civil rights group in the area tells us they plan to meet with school officials Monday.
