Confederate Flag Rare At Sesquicentennial Events

June 19, 2012

The preservation of Civil War history by the Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation and other officialdom is laudable, but the paucity of Confederate flags at these Sesquicentennial events — even at sites of Southern victories — is appalling.

When representatives are questioned, the response is — we have to remain neutral. I say — how can you remain neutral if you are only showing one side, most often the losing side?

We have a responsibility to those men who fought and died under the flags of the Confederacy. To downplay their banner is to spit on the grave of every man — many our own ancestors — who died for The Lost Cause.

The SVBF and Virginia are looking to reap profits from these honored dead all while stripping them of their sacred honor. There can be no glory in this — shame, shame, shame.

Our Confederate heritage is being cleansed by political correctness.
