Letter: See what you want to see
Editor, Daily News:
I don’t know why anyone should be offended to have the Confederate flag in the swamp buggy parade or anywhere else, because no one is saying they are against blacks or anyone else.
Kids nowadays think of it as heritage, not hate.
My kids were born and raised here. They were not raised to be prejudiced against others.
They are proud of who they are. The flag means what you want it to mean and if it offends you, then maybe you are looking to keep that meaning alive, because we don’t look at it that way.
I worked, went to school here and grew up around a lot of people of color and they will tell you neither I nor my family have given any reason to think that we live in the Dark Ages.
So please grow up, pull your head out of the sand and take a good look at yourself.
You might see who is trying to hang onto the past.
