Sixth Annual SCV Salutes American Veterans
Saturday Sept. 19, 2009 will be the 6th year in a row that the Georgia Division Sons of Confederate Veterans has hosted a cookout and day filled with entertainment for our veterans who are in the Carl Vinson Veterans Administration hospital in Dublin, Ga.
Music, food, prizes and events will be day long at the facility. Special guest speaker will be Georgia Division SCV Commander Jack Bridwell.
Volunteers are needed. Monetary donations are accepted and go toward recreation for the patients. Last year the band Renegade provided the musical entertainment to the delight of over 300 patients who were able to come outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. Vintage cars and motorcycles were on hand, as well as the General Lee 1969 Dodge Charger. A real treat was meeting the descendants of Laurens County native and black Confederate "Ten Cent Bill" Yopp.
Volunteers are needed to serve in the food line and to take meals to those confined in their beds. For more information or to volunteer, contact Commander Russ Huffman at firstname.lastname@example.org or Commander Steve Scroggins at email@example.com
