Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) is a breath of fresh air on the political scene. First, MSNBC reported that Ron Paul scored the highest positive votes in Both Republican debates he attended. That means he beat out Romney, McCain and Giuliani. Our course there was no mention of these polls in the major media. Congressman Paul personifies the Founding Fathers ideal of the citizen-statesman. He is the only candidate in both parties that believes in the original intent of the Constitution and he would restore America to its one time greatness. Dr. Paul has been in and out of Congress since 1976, so he is No newcomer to politics as some of the other candidates for President. He’s unique in that he was against the war before he was against the war, unlike All the Democrats (save Kucinich) who were for the war before they were against it. Ron Paul’s opposition to the war is rooted in our nation’s founding history, not political expedience or pacifism. George Washington warned our fledgling nation not to "entangle our peace and prosperity" in the affairs of foreign nations. He has never voted to raise taxes, he voted against the Patriot Act that basically throws the U. S. Constitution in the trash can. If elected President he stated he would phase out the IRS "Immediately". On turning America into a "Papers Please" nation. Rep. Paul declared, "I am absolutely opposed to a national ID card. This is a total contradiction of what a free society is all about. Paul explains on his website that he "Never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the U. S. Constitution." He also voted against regulating the internet. As Patrick Henry stated "The Constitution is not an instrument for government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government, lest it come to dominate our lives and interests." This is exactly what the government is doing today in America. President Ron Paul would change all of that. He is very well worth taking a look at.
