Dear SHNV Friends,
Brent Fallin (a grad student in North Carolina) wrote me, " . . . the head of the NC UDC caved to the Reidsville officials and agreed not to try to put the statue back up at its prior location. They are planning to replace the statue, but where it will end up is unknown. This action was taken over the heads of the local UDC chapter. The local chapter would have fought to have it put back where it belongs, but they were not consulted."
I am a long time promoter of the UDC and am very concerned about Brent Fallin’s note and what is happening in Reidsville. Is the above description true?
PLEASE WRITE or call the Chief executive officer and official spokeswoman for the North Carolina Division United Daughters of the Confederacy Mrs. Aileen R. Ezell at the UDC website at http://www.ncudc.org/. Just tell them how you feel about the UDC action. I have not been able to get the National or NC UDC to respond to my e-mails. I think they need to hear from more of us. I want them to be successful in their efforts to represent their organization and our ancestors. I remain in His service.
