The Museum of the Confederacy

Dear Bill,

Let’s not forget that Mr. Rawl’s greatest hope is to have a meeting of the NAACP in the museum! So we should all know just where the “Director” of this former Confederate historical institution is coming from, as they say.

Rawls and his immediate predecessors (and doubtless those who will follow him) want nothing more than to make “Confederate history” as dead and gone as Egyptian and Roman history. He has echoed the sentiments of an earlier Director that this was a museum about the Confederacy, not for it. Given that this was not the founding principles on which the museum was created and priceless family heirlooms donated, maybe it’s time to rethink a lot of things – and especially those families who have donated their treasures to a facility which has nothing but contempt for their ancestors.
