Re: Confederate Flags Create Controversy at Hanover Tomato Festival
Consider the thirteen-stripe United States Flag:
It flew over ships bringing slaves to the Western Hemisphere. No Confederate Flag ever did.
It flew over mass slaughters of people strictly because of their ethnic background (the various Native American nations). No Confederate Flag ever did.
It flew over concentration camps where certain American citizens were imprisoned purely for their ethnic background (the Americans of Japanese ancestry during World War II). No Confederate Flag ever did.
Add to that the fact that it has been, and is, used heavily by hatemongers (see http://pointsouth.com/csanet/kkk.htm).
Condemning the Confederate Battle Flag without also condemning the United States Flag is at best applying a double standard and at worst hypocrisy.
