Dear Mr. Demastus,
I would like to respond to David Julian Cates input "A Balanced View." After reading Mr. Lysander Spooner’s quote, I’d like to say that the war was fought over slavery from the southern perspective too. But not over chattel slavery. It was fought to prevent enslavement of the southern people by their northern invaders!
