Good afternoon everyone,

I’m pleased to report we have today received a firm letter of support from the Ministry for Culture and Communication in Paris, following our stated wishes; and proposal to mount a new, memorial plaque in the
vicinity of Cherbourg harbour, the CSS Alabama’s last port of call!

We will now be able to take this forward; and discuss a suitable date and venue with the Mayor and local authorities of Cherbourg.

I will of course keep you informed.
