Where is it stated nurses were soldiers? Where is Wikipedia used as reference?

Note that nurses and cooks were not considered "soldiers" and most were sent by their masters to serve the southern cause. They carried no weapons. Also the term "colored" in the southern army also included native americans like the Cherokee who did fight in significant numbers for the Confederacy. Wikepedia is NOT comsidered a reliable source for much of anything.
