Va Flaggers:  "McCauliffe Blasts Flying of Confederate Flag"

"McCauliffe blasts flying of Confederate flag…"
In response to the September 28 raising of the  I-95 Confederate Battle Flag, to honor the memory of Virginians who fought and died to defend the Commonwealth in the War Between the States, Virginia’s Democratic candidate for Governor offered the following scathing remarks:
“This is not representative of the values that we as a Commonwealth hold dear”.
Perhaps Mr. McAuliffe does not recognize the worth of values such as HONOR, BRAVERY, SACRIFICE, DUTY, and REVERENCE TO GOD, FAMILY AND COUNTRY, but we believe there are still MANY of us in the Commonwealth who hold these values VERY dear.
He continues:
“While we can’t force this group to take down the flag flying over I-95, we can join together as a community to express our displeasure and commitment to fighting for justice and tolerance take a moment and fly an American flag to show the world the true spirit of Virginia.”
We suggest that If Mr. McAuliffe is truly interested in "tolerance", he would stop engaging in rhetoric that serves only to divide Virginians, dishonor her Veterans, and discriminate against her MANY citizens of Confederate ancestry. Virginia’s Confederate soldiers are AMERICAN Veterans by Act of Congress, and to discriminate against them and their descendants is blatantly Un-American, and Un-Patriotic.
While we do assemble to honor and remember our Confederate ancestors, the Virginia Flaggers also honor and respect Veterans of ALL wars in which Americans have served, especially as many of our members are US Veterans themselves.
We call on Mr. McAuliffe to come visit with us at the Chester I-95 Battle Flag Site, hear the history of the area, and learn more about the Virginia veterans in whose memory the flag was raised.  Perhaps then he might begin to understand the "true spirit of Virginians", as expressed through the sacrifice of 32,000+ of her sons, who gave their lives in her defense.
Fly a U.S. flag to "express our displeasure"?  No thank you, Sir!  As patriotic Southern Americans, we fly the flags of our forefathers (BOTH U.S. and Confederate) out of pride, patriotism, reverence, and in memory and honor of the Veterans who fought and died under them, NOT to further an agenda in a political campaign.
