Lincoln an ‘evil man’
Thursday, January 24, 2008
Once in a while the truth bubbles up through the goo of Lincoln idolatry. Here’s one such instance, and it’s a good one. Relish this quote from the pro-Southern governor of Kentucky as he refused Lincoln’s demand for troops:
Gov. Beriah Magoffin’s response cannot be whitewashed from history either; and his is the official response from this commonwealth, then as now:
“I will send not a man nor a dollar for the wicked purpose of subduing my sister Southern states.”
Of course, back then, governors served as the spokesmen of their people, rather than as local administrators of Federal control.
