Recollections and Letters of Robert E. Lee
While progress is slow but sure on Wyeth’s Life of General N. B. Forrest, my wife, Nicole, has completed "Recollections and Letters of Robert E. Lee, by Captain Robert E. Lee, his son." What this life of the great General has over every other is that it was written by one who was intimately knowledgeable about the man in ways that others could only have dreamed of. Just one hang up, though: you’ll have to wait a day or two. I had a glitch in the pdf file and now I will have to go back home and redo it and then get it up on http://Stores.lulu.com/Confederate tomorrow or the next day (barring unforeseen circumstances, that is!).
You will be able to see rich scenes from family life: how General R. E. Lee was an animal lover, his nicknames for his children (Robert, Jr. was often called ‘Robertus’) and his deep love and appreciation for his family, his men and for God. This is a biography of Lee like no other and I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I have. Check it out in a couple days!

After yesterday’s file snafu, I have corrected the error and now "Recollections and Letters of Robert E. Lee, by Captain Robert E. Lee, His Son." is now available on my storefront at http://stores.lulu.com/Confederate. I do think SHNV readers will enjoy reading about one of history’s most beloved generals and heroes from a different perspective: that of a devoted son writing of his father, his mother’s husband, his community’s devoted civic leader and his church’s devoted son. Most of us know a great deal about General Lee, but how many of us know a lot about Robert Lee, the father, churchgoer, husband, and college president?
Anyway, it’s available on my lulu.com storefront now. Enjoy and happy reading!
