Subject: [FlagFight] Haralson Troop Muster 150th Epilogue
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I would like to express my sincerest thanks to Mike Pullen, Va Div SCV member Tom Smith Camp #1702 in Suffolk and candidate for Va Div Commander for his assistance in ideas and supplies for the proposed 150th event here in Haralson County.
As proposed and promised, on March 3rd, 2012, I made the journey to the old 1891 Courthouse in downtown Buchanan and placed the original Georgia State Flag and the Haralson Invincible Camp Flag out front by the county marker. I dressed in my Corporals uniform and carried an Army of Tennessee Battleflag.
I was there for about an hour, walking on the grounds, up and down the stairs, along the sidewalks, and on the steps. It was a very nice day and there was a nice flow of traffic and passersby.
I posed for a few pictures from 2 different women at 2 different times, and spoke with nearly a dozen folks about my presence and what the day signified. Some of them were very interested to hear a brief history of the Invincibles, Defenders and Brown Guards.
For the time alloted, IMHO it was a successful affair. My last update on this was posted on September 26th, 2011. Less than 2 weeks after that the very important issue at Yellow Dirt Cemetery began. Yellow Dirt is still unresolved, unfortunantly. Time was of course diverted from the Haralson 150th Planning to defending against Georgia Power’s actions and the restoration of the Battleflags on the graves there.
Add to that list trips to Lexington, Richmond, and Williamsburg Virginia, and I could not spend as much time as I was hoping to for the Haralson 150th.
Others of the Haralson Invincibles SCV were out raising money for Presidential Candidate Ron Paul in Carrollton at the same time
