Invitation–Fort Sumter Soiree on the Yorktown
Greetings Friends!
Join us on the Yorktown for an 1860s War Between the States soiree in the Charleston area on April 16 as part of the Fort Sumter sesquicentennial events. What is a soiree? It’s a formal party/dance, maybe just a tad less formal than a ball. Following are the pertinent details regarding the once-in-a-lifetime Fort Sumter Soiree. Please plan to join us and enjoy being a part of history!
Registration is now open and space is limited, so please don’t delay in registering. Pre-registration is required. We hope to see you all there in your finest regalia!!
What: Fort Sumter Soiree
When: Saturday, April 16, 2011
Location: The USS Yorktown (Yes, on the ship, a WWII-era aircraft carrier) at Patriots Point, Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina (Mt. Pleasant is at the Charleston Harbor across the river from Charleston.)
Time: 6:30 pm -10:30 pm
Music: Emmy-award winning band Unreconstructed
Dance callers: Heather and Raquelle Sheen of Timeless Dance
Attire: 1860s formal or modest modern formal, all uniforms welcome
Menu: Light refreshments
Cost: $40 per person
Registration deadline: April 2, 2011

The soiree will be held on the hanger deck of the USS Yorktown. We will be inside, but if the weather warrants, the entryways will be open.
