Finley’s Brigade #1614 Lee-Jackson (Tallahassee) Fundraiser with SCV CIC Michael Givens Saturday January 28

The keynote speaker for this year’s event is Michael Givens, Commander-in-Chief, Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Note: This event is also a fundraiser for the Sam Davis Youth camp.

The evening’s festivities will begin at 5:00 pm with a social hour featuring a “meet and greet” with Commander Givens.  As guests socialize and visit with Commander Givens, they will be able to enjoy Southern period music provided by “A Joyful Noise”, a group of eight musicians from South Georgia.  Also during this time guests will enjoy appetizers of Southern bacon wrapped dates stuffed with pecans, Charleston Cheese with crackers, tea, and lemonade.

The program will be called to order at 6:00pm.  After opening ceremonies and comments from Camp Commander Graham Smith, a fabulous meal, catered by Carrie Ann Catering of Monticello, Florida will be served.  The menu will be smothered fried cube steak or herb chicken, mashed potatoes, sautéed vegetables, tossed salad, rolls and butter, and choice of banana or bread pudding, tea, and coffee.

The Camp has procured many books, pieces of collectable art, and specialty and novelty items to be awarded to the highest bidder in either the silent auction or open auction.  The silent auction will kick off during the social hour and conclude when supper is finished and the program begins.  An intense active bidding auction will be held at the conclusion of the evening.  Door prizes consisting of a surprise item and the ever favorite wooden rocking chair (suitable for an elegant Southern front porch) will also be given away at the end of the program.  Collectable/numbered pieces of art by notable WBTS artists John Paul Strain, Mort Künstler, and Don Troiani will be on the auction block so be sure to show up with an attitude that no one, other than you, will take those treasures home.  Items in the silent auction will include collectable and coffee table books, an assortment of pocket knives, a stained glass piece (the Bonnie Blue), and several novelty items.  There will also be accessories to complement the period dresses and apparel of any gracious Southern Lady.
