Correcting a math error in "What I Saw at the Circus"

In his article "What I Saw at the Circus," Mr. Sherwin W. Dillard, Jr. wrote in part: "Posturing over American slavery that ended 148 years ago is a lazy way to evade doing anything costly about worldwide slavery today."

Slavery in the United States ended 18 December 1865 with the ratification of the Thirteenth Amendment.

18 December 2011 will be the 146th anniversary of the end of US slavery.

Not until 18 December 2013 will US slavery have been ended for 148 years.
