My comments to Joey Kennedy (Old South Parade)

The War for Southern Independence was not fought for bigotry. It was fought because various Southern States wanted to choose their own form of government, while the Northern States wanted to cram a form of government down their throats. The War of 1861-1865 was an exact parallel to the War of 1776-1781.

As for the Confederate Battle Flag’s having been used as a symbol of hatred and oppression: The thirteen-stripe flag has been used a lot more for that sort of thing.

Consider:

The thirteen-stripe flag flew over ships bringing slaves to the Western Hemisphere. No Confederate Flag ever did.

The thirteen-stripe flag flew over troops who massacred Native Americans. No Confederate Flag ever did.

The thirteen-stripe flag flew over concentration camps where American citizens were forcibly relocated based on their race. No Confederate flag ever did.

… and the thirteen-stripe flag has also been extensively used, and is still being used, by Kluxers (who are definitely bent on hatred) — so why is it not condemned the same as is the Confederate Battle Flag, for the same reason?
