In honor of black history month, the Columbus County Volunteers, Camp #749, North Carolina Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans, will honor two black Confederate soldiers from Columbus County, NC with a grave marker dedication ceremony at the Horace Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Boardman, NC.
The keynote speaker will be Marvin Nicholson, an educator who specializes in black involvement in the War for Southern Independence. Mr. Nicholson holds degrees from the University of Southern California and Seton Hall.
A cannon salute by black and white Confederate re-enactors will conclude the ceremony.
