Dear Brethren (bcc herein),
I am most proud to be forwarding this e-mail to you from our Confederate Brother, Bill Patterson (CSA Gov).

Please read it as Bill, like most Confederates, are wise and knowledgeable of our Confederate History—- unlike those Spawn of the Invader who take ‘license’ to demonize us & smear our History any chance they get.
Excellent comment Bill & may we always remain Un-Reconstructed from those, who because of their Station Over Us at present , are provided with such license realized from Their Spoils Of War, who can ‘inform’
the un-informed,  of THEIR version of the War as they perceive them!

Glenn Beck’s South-Bashing

I try not to watch the MSM very often, but today I tuned into Glenn Beck for his “Founders Friday” program. Sadly, it turned out to be nothing more than a pitch to the multiculturalists where he praised the efforts of black Americans throughout history, particularly in the War for Independence. Beck and his guest David Barton were groveling at the feet of those who demand that history should be studied from month to month, each month honoring some ethnic minority wronged by evil white males, past and present. Nothing new.

I certainly wasn’t surprised by any of this, but what really got under my skin was the fact that Beck and Barton both made time in this program to bash the South replete with very glaring historical inaccuracies. Beck prides himself on “rediscovering” historical narratives which differ greatly from the Establishment’s verion, yet today he revealed himself to be thoroughly hypocritical and inconsistent. I was never a huge fan of Beck before all of this, but he now has zero integrity as far as I’m concerned.

At one point during the program, Beck told a story of how he supposedly visited the Museum of the Confederacy in Richmond and asked to see a copy of the Confederacy’s Constitution. It was at that moment that Beck and Barton jumped on the Establishment bandwagon by bashing the Confederate cause, saying that the cause of the war had only to do with slavery and not state sovereignty. In particular, Beck and Barton made three blatantly inaccurate claims about the Confederacy:

1. The Confederate Constitution explicitly addresses the constituent states as “slaveholding” states in the title of the document.

2. The aforementioned document prohibits non-slave states from joining the Confederacy.

3. It also prohibits member states from abolishing slavery.

It had been awhile since I actually looked at the Confederate Constitution, so I read it over again and found that not one of these assertions was accurate in the least. I even read the Provisional Constitution that was in force before the final version was ratified and also found nothing of the sort. Beck isn’t a professional historian and neither is Barton, the latter being nothing more than a Republican hack who has spent his career keeping conservative Christians in slavish adherence to the GOP.

And as we all know, being a good Republican means deifying Abraham Lincoln. Beck and Barton join the other neocons in their Lincoln-worship coupled with a thorough bashing of the South. It’s laughable that Beck constantly harps on Woodrow Wilson for being a racist but completely ignores the white supremacist rhetoric of Lincoln. No consistency whatsoever, but what do you expect from the MSM? I cringe every time Beck refers to himself as a “libertarian” because he’s really just a closet neocon.

To be fair, it’s a good thing that Beck has criticized Wilson and the “Progressive” Movement by presenting a more balanced view of history. However, America’s problems didn’t start with Wilson. For that matter, they didn’t even start with Lincoln. Beck has praised Thomas Jefferson in the past, but does anyone seriously think that Jefferson would have sided with Lincoln in 1861? Go read the Kentucky Resolution of 1798 and decide for yourself. Beck has a hobby-horse of attacking modern “Progressives,” but has gone no further.

At the end of the day, Glenn Beck is a joke and shouldn’t be taken seriously at all. The same is true about David Barton. Both these men (and others in “conservative media”) are intellectually lazy and dishonest. Beck is a professional entertainer, not a historian or a political philosopher. I’m probably preaching to the choir by writing this entry, but I had to write this response for the sake of history. And I’m done watching anything featuring Beck.
