Update: 10th Ala Cemetery
From: cscitizen@windstream.net
Folks,
I just got off the phone with Compatriot Hunter Phillips & this is the latest update on the 10th Alabama Infantry Regiment Cemetery in Virginia.
Hunter spoke with Cmdr. Reames of the Alabama Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans about their support for this project. Cmdr. Reames assured Hunter that the division is 100% in support of it plus, he has made Hunter the official contact point between Alabama S.C.V. & the officials in Virginia.
Hunter spoke with the contact in Virginia which is Rob Orrison. Mr. Orrison told Hunter that they would like to use some native Alabama stone as the base for this plaque / monument, white marble from Sylacauga, Al. has been mentioned.
The ballpark figure for this project is around 5k with all funds over this amount going towards the future maintenance of this cemetery. All checks should be made out to : Prince William Historic Preservation Foundation. In the memo corner of your check write, “Alabama Cemetery." The mailing address is: C / O Rob Orrison 17674 Main St. Dumfries, Va. 22026
This event is scheduled to take place in September of 2012 as that is the month most of those boys died. The folks in charge of this event are requesting that a large contingent of Alabama SCV members be present in September & that they especially would like to see the reenactors from our state to come & portray the 10th Alabama Inf. Regt.
